Starting to get the hang of it. It bites my trigger finger and there are times I just don't want to fire it. It can hurt my finger pretty good. its a sweet gun.

I carry an LCP or this 637. Its my big gun for concealed carry. It rides in an ankle holster or IWB. The chiefs special I have is OK in an ankle holster, but it makes me walk funny. This one does not.

Shoot em up!

Were you shooting single or double action? In a self defense situation you likely would not have the luxury of firing SA. I think 7 yds is about the outer limit for the distance you would ever need to use this gun.

As for hurting your hand try using a larger rubber target grip & shooting gloves for extensive (100 + rounds) practice.

Pictures 1 and 3 were double action. The trigger hangs up a little if I try to stage it. It actually gets harder the last little bit like the timing is a little too early.

Picture one, I pulled the trigger as soon as the front sight was on the target. 2 cylinders full.

Old cop, The first couple times out I got to a point where I did not want to pull the trigger and was flinching. Today I shot off another 50 rounds and am getting the hang of it. I traded a BG38 for this 637. The BG 38 was better at handling recoil. This new 637 has a smaller more concealable grip which I like for carry, but not so much for shooting. Everything is a compromise. I am thinking laser grips may be the answer. I have not tried any yet.

Its getting better. I need to shoot it a lot to be confident. I bought it 4 days ago and have fired a couple hundred rounds. My trigger finger hurts. Its getting better and I am one of those that puts my left index finger on the trigger guard. With a good strong hold, it does not bite as much.

More targets to follow

In your original 637 post, one member mentioned dry firing to smooth out the trigger pull. Easy enough to do, make sure the gun is unloaded first. Check twice, never hurts. Dry firing can also help with sight picture if you choose a target to aim at. It needn't be a bull's eye.

I would dry fire the gun regularly, not wildly. We're not trying for a fast click, but a regular cadence. I'm not a fan of trigger staging on a small carry revolver, rather the same steady pull each time. Tip from my retired FBI instructor: keep your trigger finger on the trigger as it returns forward after the shot (follow through). Trigger staging may negatively impact follow through until you develop technique.

Thanks for reading the lecture. I know more than a little about J-frames. And thanks for your follow-up thread. Good shooting.

Thanks for the shooting glove idea. I love my 637. I surprise myself with how accurately I can shoot it, but I have a bit of neuropathy in my trigger finger and this gun really wants to slam the trigger guard into my fingertip with each shot. In an emergency situation that wouldn't be important, but when I want to put 100 or more downrange for practice I start cringing after 20-30 rounds. Any recommendations or tips for shooting gloves?

Nice shooting, sir. It's good to hear that you are pleased.

My wife uses a glove she found at Cabelas. I usually try to have a fabric band aid handy when visiting the range to shoot any of our carry pistols. It's not just the J-frames that bang the bottom edge of the trigger finger.
