I picked up my MP 15-22 on Friday 6/25. Got it home and mounted the optics. I tied several different setups until I found one I liked. I tried a BSA Sweet 22 3-9X40, I like the optics but with the Burris PERP mount and a red dot with the 45 degree mount was sort of on the heavy side.

I then tried the Sweet in a set of Barska rings with the rail on top. I could not mount the3 red dot because the elevation turret is to tall. I then mounted the BSA 3-9X40 illuminated target dot scope on the Barska rings and a BSA 20mm red dot on top of the Barska front ring. It seemed to have a better balance.

This is the first time I have been to the Project 2000 range in El Cajon Ca. It is a nice place. Clean, well maintained. It has indoor and out door ranges, trap and archery shooting too.

We get all setup, we had to take a test and get a range safety card before we could shoot.

P2K Range

We finally get to the lanes, I get my target all setup at 25 yards. I load up my only mag with CCI Mini Mags. I Take a shot. I am low and right. It takes a total of 7 clicks up and 5 clicks left to be on target with the scope. I am grouping as best as I can off the shoulder. Reload and check the red dot. Also a little low. Get that set and then start to have fun.

I finished the box a 100 CCI Mini Mags. I then shoot a 100 count of Remington Yellow jackets. After the Yellow Jackets I shoot a 100 box of Winchester Super X. I am now out of the good stuff. All I had left was a box of loose stuff I am not sure what they are. I burn through that. I think for the most part they are Remington Vipers, CCI Mini mags.

After all of that, I had 1 Failure to feed, and a real sore thumb. I am so disappointed I did not get this gun sooner. I am also disappointed I did not order the extra mags in time to use them yesterday.

One of the friends I went shooting with, graduated with a Masters in business, so for her graduation present I bought her a 1 year membership to P2K. So I will be putting this gun through some serious use over the next year.

This gun is some of the most fun I have had shooting in a long time. I am all ready looking at getting another one. Hard to believe I waited as long as I did before I got mine.

Well I am one happy camper. Loads and loads of fun. I have a few changes in mind for my MP 15-22. I am going to enjoy it for a long time.

P.S. Serial is a DTUXXXX number, no blue springs.

P.S.S. Edit title.

Glad you were "disapointed" in the way you were. the 15/22 is a great gun, glad you joined the club.

Congrats on getting the S&W M&P 15-22!!! I agree with everything you wrote as it is a great gun indeed!!! :D

Welcome to the S&W Forum. :)

I was real happy about how fast it is to clean. I have always hated the cleaning of my Model 60. This one is easy and all of the parts drop out without a hassle.

I am watching the sale and the coupons from Big 5 out here. When they come together I can get one for $380.00 with a coupon. I will pick up a second one.

I have been shopping for ammo online. Trying to get the most for the best price. I would like to get some of the Yellow Jackets but seems most places are sol out or have way to high shipping charges.

Buzz.

I did the big 5 and printed 20% coupon deal to get mine too
