Range report - Model 66

First trip to the range Sat with my new model 66 combat special. First revolver purchased/owned and I was very impressed! The balance, trigger and accuracy were great. Red ramp front sight is very easily acquired. I see why this was one of the most popular models of the 70's and beyond. Accuracy was incredible - shot out to 15 & 20yds and never would have hit that good with any of my semi-autos.

After shooting a box of 100 .38s, I immediately began shooting my Springfield XDs in 9mm and the trigger felt like, well, pulling a stick through gravel! An effect I'm sure many of you have had - and many have read from newer revolver shooters like myself!

And so begins the revolver bug . . .

When the bug bites you, the effect is life-long. Unfortunately you will find that they (wheelies) do not like being alone. After you get 2 or 3 you start to wonder if they are somehow related to rabbits because they will multiply. Every time you open the safe you find another one nestled in next to the "others". Enjoy your newfound obsession!

The worm has definitely turned for you! Congrats! Now you need one in 6" to go with it. Unless it is a 6" in which case you'll need a 4". Then, of course, there's the snubbies.

I have a 6" python, then my 2 1/2 66-3 but I have always wanted a 4" python or a 686. It never ends. Not that I don't like my autoloaders, but nothing, IMHO, looks better than a stainless steel wheel gun with wood grips.

Yeah, about that . . . I'm thinking a 686 6" would be a perfect companion. Bigger frame, full lug, little more weight - just the ticket for full power heavy magnums!
