Anybody here afflicted by this? Clearly written by yahoo's for Yahoo. What a goat rope.
I spent over an hour trying to download a picture attached to an email in my brother-in-law's account. After some rooting around the Web I found that this is a common issue, and it has been particularly bad since Yahoo did an update in October.
More investigating revealed that "Yahoo needs access to the Internet cache on your computer" to perform downloads. Yeah, right. That's like a pervert doctor telling his patient they need to be naked so he can examine their feet.

Cleared the cache, cookies and a whole slew of trash off his machine to no avail.
I even tried Yahoo's own troubleshooting guide. "Is your browser up to date and compatible" it read. Yes to both, according to the computer update history and what Yahoo says is a compatible browser. Then they say, "For example, if you are having problems using Internet Explorer, try another compatible browser like Firefox". Umm, you just told me his version of IE is compatible, so if it doesn't work, why is it suddenly my fault.
This is a usage of "compatible" that must be peculiar to the IT world.
More rooting around in the Yahoo troubleshooting guide revealed advice about possibly turning off your firewall or disabling your anti-virus software. Oh look, more naked podiatry.
Much delving revealed that the computer in question may have a bad/missing installation of Java, that Yahoo also insists is necessary.
"Wiggle your toes please, Darling".
