Rattle in magazine

KelTec P-11 mags rattle. There is a certain spot on them that if you squeeze them in a vise maybe .020" or so, the problem goes away. Never bothered me enough.

i have an hk usp 45. the 2 10 rounders never made a sound but i bought 2 factory 12 rounders and they both rattle with 12 in the mag. its just one of the rounds in the mag that have a little wiggle room. nothing to be alarmed about. btw. the rattle is less noticeable when the mag is inserted into the gun

It is a simple fix, don't carry it as plus one. I fill up the magazine, chamber the 1st round and leave the magazine 1 short.

When the mag is maxed, it also puts more force on the slide from the top round, you will notice it is much more difficult to lock in a magazine with a full magazine and the slide closed than when you are one short. Guns are not meant to be carried with a full magazine, at least I do not think they are. A full magazine should be inserted with the slide locked back.

Now as for carrying your backup magazine, guess you have to live with the rattle.

I too have several different ones that rattle when full, can't remember which ones off the top of my head though. Was always a double stack that does it though.

to be honest, its the way the magazine is made. There is at least 1 AR platform magazine maker who designed their mag to barely squeeze in 31 rounds. Seats easily with 30 rounds, and easy to rack the bolt. Careful follower and spring design can make the problem never occur.

It's up to the magazine designer. If Mec Gar can get 17 rounds in a magazine form factor S&W designed as a 15 round magazine, it can easily be made to not rattle. It needs to be a priority of the design team.

Yep some magazines rattle. My Mecgar Hi Power magazines will rattle at full capacity as well. Does not affect function!

All of my factory M&P double stack magazines full size or compact, 9mm or .40, rattle but none of them malfunction.

I received an e mail from Smith and Wesson today they tell me when the magazines get broke in from use they will stop rattling. I have yet to see where anyone on here reports that they have stopped rattling. Absolutely the worst customer service. Everyone complains but they don't seem to care. It speaks volumes to me. You live and learn, lesson learned.

I've had these guns for YEARS. They indeed stop rattling after a break-in period. Leave them loaded, shoot them monthly, and in a few months it will gone. Not a reliability issue as others have pointed out.

If it bothers you, this pistol is not for you. Pretty simple.

No problem. I realized the rattle wasn't for me. In law enforcement jobs, sometimes you need to be quiet. I traded the gun for a Springfield Armory XD MOD2.
