I am replacing the front sight on my .22 Single Shot 3rd issue, as a previous owner filed it down too far, and it shoots about 5" high at 25 yards. Couldn't find one, so a friend who is a master machinist is making me a new one. I had no problem removing the old one, using the proper cup tipped punch, but the pin is so "tiny" that I am trying to figure out how to reinstall when the new sight is finished. I'm sure it will take two of us, one to hold the pin in a needle point tweezers, while the other uses the punch and hammer. Can anyone recommend a better way?

Use needle tip pliers or tweezers to hold and position the pin while you use a large non-marring brass punch to gently tap the pin to get it started. Finish with the cup tipped punch and hammer.
