I've never heard of NY registering a gun as new or as used. I've bought both new and used guns, the county clerk doesn't care one bit whether they've been owned before or brand new, all they require is a Bill of Sale. No one checks to see if it's new or used.

The only reason I can think of why they ask that is in NY when you buy a new gun it has to be shipped with a spent cartridge. We have the stupid gun "finger printing" law on the books.

*** Happy to report this issues has been resolved by another S&W rep. Joe from S&W reached out to me and was pleasant and professional. They are sending me grips at no charge. Night and day experience from my original phone call.
