I was sure I'd viewed some posts about this topic once before but I'll be dogged if I can find it. I'm looking for a cost effective, reliable rail mounted light for my SD40VE. I don't want or need a laser, just the light. Not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on it though. Any suggestions?

Protec RM190.....You can find them at walmart for 39.99....Have one for an sd40ve i keep on my night stand.... 190 lumens decently made from aluminium ......easy on off switch, you can turn it on with your trigger finger and not have to adjust your grip...also had strobe feature.....just be careful not to over tighten the battery cap if you over tighten it it will not turn on...finger tight thats it

SD with Protec Light attached. And its been working perfectly for about a year now.

BTW, I have a TLR-3 on my M&P. The Protec puts out more light. The TLR has a better switch, but it darn well should for nearly three times the cost of the Protec. Look on line the Protec is available for even less than it goes for at Wally world. I paid $27.99 for mine.

Thanks. Just read the reviews. Looks like exactly what I'm after. Hard to justify $70-$200 for a combat-ready tactical light. I'm just looking for something use on my nightstand gun.

Well, it turns out I read the reviews for the Nebo iProtec HP190. Can't seem to find the Protec RM190 anywhere. Did see a Protec RM190SLR on eBay but that also has a laser and so it may not be the same thing.

Anybody have any experience with the iProtec HP190? Or is it maybe the next generation of the RM190?

Mine is a Protec HP190. Try searching for PROTEC HP190. drop the "i" from Protec

I've got the Nebo on my SD 9 which serves the same purpose as yours...nightstand gun. The light is good and solid, works when it needs to and has been ultra dependable. I've shot the gun at the range with the light on it and had absolutely no issues with slipping, sliding or light failure.

Good choice for the SD line.
