Bought a collectible condition 669 a few years ago and have never fired it. Couple of days ago I field stripped it and used the barrel/chamber to test the reloads I was doing. Got to a spot where I didn't need to use it anymore and began to reassemble it. Went through the same procedure as with my 5906 but wasn't able to get it done. The slide with barrel correctly in place wouldn't go back beyond the hammer (three levers pushed down). I will appreciate any help offered to get it done.

Thank You,

Don

reassemble after field strip

Place the guide rod and spring in the slide to the cut out position of the barrel after you place the barrel in the slide where it will stay secured. Slide the frame guide back over the rails toward the back and over the spring and rod toward the back and it will come in contact with the ejector and depress the ejector and continue back and the remaining two levers press down and continue rearward until it stops. Move slide slightly forward and align the slide stop in to seat and then move it forward and line up the notch of the slide stop and press down until fully seated and the assembly is complete. The slide should move forward and rearward without hesitation. Hope this helps.

Tried it and slide still will not go back over the hammer. Will keep trying and let you know the result.
Thank you for the reply.

I don't have any semi's left.. but I had to cock the hammer while getting the levers down and slide back..

Just what combination I can't quite remember..:(

The way I remember is to push the slide on frame, push the levers down to get slide even with back of frame then cock hammer to get the slide rearward to install slide stop.

Sometimes you have to move the barrel to the right or left to get it to fit into the slot in the frame.

Thanks to all who have replied. Local gunsmith showed me how to move the prepared slide back to hammer then manipulate the ejector depressor plunger while applying pressure to slide towards the rear. It works.
Once again thanks to all.

Regards,

Don
