Well, after reading everything I could on the forum and having the manual in front of me, disassembled, cleaned, replaced recoil spring and then, after 2 hours, gave up trying to get it put back together. Tried everything.

After following advice on the forum, got the barrel back in. Got the slide back on but not correctly. Any tips on how the guide rod goes back?
Does the flat surface of the guide rod go into the milled out section of the barrel?
Where does the little plunger in the guide rod supposed to go? Depressed or out onto the small shelf in front of it?

I clean and reassemble ultra tight Les Baer 45 bullseye guns, but so far the 952 is defeating me. Very frustrating so such a great pistol.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

the recoil spring guide rod plunger rides on the slide stop lever pin notch.

if the 952 guide rod has a stop for the spring, that stop rides in the cutout in the barrel.

the spring loaded detent just sits and you have to turn your slide stop lever pin to the bevel cut so it will slip in.

sounds like you got a tight one.

oil, ^%#^%(*&%(* and patience.

I find useing liberal amounts of Jim Beam also to be helpful.

The barrel should be the hardest part. The rest is like reassembling any 3rd gen pistol. Remember to not have the hammer cocked when you are putting the slide back on.

I find that the barrel does best with some oil on it, and then gently wiggling the bushing with one finger and probing the barrel against it. I can usually get it back together after a few minutes, and less cuss words then the first time.

The 952 barrel/bushing assembly for me takes seconds. Nothing technical, I just oil the outside of the barrel. Then place some oil around the bushing with a Q-tip, use that Q-tip or your little finger and eyeball the proper angle adjustment of the bushing. Then slowly slide the barrel downward with a little wiggle if needed and it's done. Be gentle!

The first time I reassembled a 952 my patience was severely tried. After a short cooling down period and an extra heavy dose of patience I finally learned to do it quite rapidly. After about a 1000 rounds or so I found the reassembly to go much faster - my imagination?
