Recommend Me An AR-15 Trigger

I installed the LaRue two stage trigger in this guy.

I liked the way it feels so much that I got another one for this guy.

For this one, I did something a bit different, just to see how it worked.

The factory single stage trigger was already pretty smooth. I smoothed it just a bit more with an extra fine stone and switched the springs with a JP Enterprises Reduced power trigger spring kit.

It'll be interesting to see how these work on my next range trip.

When I switched from M14s and M1As to the AR-15 for service rifle competition a two stage 4.5 pound trigger was standard. Ideally you wanted a crisp break and no creep.

We'd routinely shoot 1 MOA 20 shot slow prone groups with iron sights.

That weight range still works fine today on a rifle fit for field use. Even on a precision rifle there isn't a need to go lower than 2.0 to a minimum of 1.5 pounds.

I find it laughable today that so many shooter seem to think they can't get peak accuracy with a 24 oz trigger. The truth is maybe "they" can't, but its a case of needing an excessively light trigger to make up for a lack of shooter ability.

So...
- two stage;
- no creep;
- crisp; and
- 1.5 to 4.5 pounds depending on how you plan to use it. For carrying in the field keep it up around 4-4.5 pounds.

There are a number of quality triggers out there for the AR-15 that will meet all of the above requirements.
