As I am now a full blown geezer, who has EDC a G-19 since '88... it's getting a bit heavy. So I'm returning to my roots with a nice J-frame bodyguard 38. I have never used an IWB holster, and for short periods I can tuck it cross draw at 9 'o'clock. But I really should invest in a holster. I was even toying with the old style clip draw. I always wear a 1.75" belt, so that eliminates some right away...I like Kydex/polymer, so if U have one U like for this application, let me know
Thanks guys

Why not carry in your pocket?
I carry a model 38 in my pocket all the time.
Just get a good holster that fits your pocket and position it correctly.

I plan to do just that when it turns cold...to imitate how we carried on traffic stops, but when it's still warm I'd like to try a nice IWB to see if I can draw quickly and smoothly

I have an old Sam Andrew IWB holster for 2" J frame that I like. Mine has the thumb snap over hammer as I don't feel the little revolvers are secure enough without it.

I have a couple of IWB holsters from High Noon in horsehide, specifically the one with the stabilizing "wing" projection. I believe they call that model the "Tail Gate," a dumb name for a pretty decent holster. As far as IWB holsters go, I prefer leather personally, and horsehide seems to not absorb sweat as much as cowhide and seems to be tougher. I think this model High Noon IWB is fairly comfortable. I gave IWB carry a try for awhile but I have to agree, IWB is not my favorite carry mode. I have gone to pocket carry with a good pocket holster almost exclusively now.

If you like Kydex, and you like the idea of IWB, would you consider appendix carry (AIWB)?

If so, I can recommend the holster I use for a J-Frame which is the "Icon 2.0" made by Harry's Holsters. The stock clip is not 1.75", but I never clip it to the belt. Rather, I clip it to my waistband and the belt covers over the clip. Due to the monoblock clip design, this works just fine (even without a belt - assuming your pants have some structure). The holster has a small, built in, wing as well as a wedge which helps keep it tucked in even more. It's not the cheapest holster, nor is it the most expensive. There are a number of reviews out there which you can search for.

AIWB is a variation on a cross-draw but the position does alarm some people. Others don't find it comfortable. Arguably, though, a compact double action revolver is the perfect gun for that style of carry.

Whatever you choose, may you carry the gun in peace.
