I'm toying with the idea of putting a Red Dot on my M&P 10MM.

Curious to know if others have done this and what kind of experience they've had. Definitely need to insure that the red dot would need to handle the recoil of the 10MM.

While I don't want to break the bank on this experiment, would need to make sure that what-ever I purchase would need to handle the recoil.

Thanks, in advance for your suggestions and/or input.

I'd recommend an Trijicon SRO.

Nice big viewing window and will handle the 10mm's recoil without issue.

Buy once, cry once.

If this is your first red dot, you will appreciate the extra large viewing window.

I went with a Holosun green dot with reticule and really like it. Battery life is incredibly long and build quality is very good. It was hard to get a good picture of the dot surrounded by the reticle, but it is a 2 MOA dot with 32 MOA circle reticule.

Went with Holosun also for quality, price, and the availability of a metal adapter plate from C&H Precision. Whatever you go with I'd recommend an aftermarket adapter plate instead of the plastic ones that come with the gun.

SmithNut- if you read down a few posts you'll see several other recent posts regarding red dot sights and M&P 10mm pistols. My son manages several gun stores, and on his recommendation I chose to install a Holosun 507c on my M&P 10mm 2.0. I installed the sight myself using the No. 1 sight adapter plate supplied with the M&P 10mm, and the 2 long screws supplied with the Holosun sight. Applied some new blue Loctite and torqued to 15 inch-pounds. Easy installation that took about 20 minutes! After several hundred rounds of 10mm FMJ, I have had no issues with the Holosun 507c or with my 4.625" 10mm. I really like the Holosun and use the default settings (circle-dot reticle, shake to wake, auto off, etc.). I think the Holosun is a rugged and easy to use red dot sight that doesn't cost a fortune. This was my first experience with a red dot...and I will need to practice some more. Good luck!

For my eyes, the green dot is preferable over a red dot.

I have the same setup and really like it.

I've never been a fan of optics on a handgun but this pistol and set up changed my mind.

Had a take off Trijicon RM05 dual illuminated (no batteries) RMR laying around. Tried it with the original sights for poor light and wasn't fond of it.

Added a set of Trijicon night sights for the M&P C.O.R.E. and was quite happy.

Decided to try it with the RMR again and wow, haven't taken it back off.
Sights are quick and easy to pick up and align and then the dot comes into view. After that it's super easy to keep on target, under any condition.

Lots of rounds down range with no issues. No FTF, no mag drops, no sheered or loosened screws. Love this pistol!

Hey Chris,

Is that a 10MM M&P 2.0??

I've really grown quite fond of mine, have shot it a bunch and just this week installed a Holosun HS407A3 (the price was right!!) on a C&H Precision plate.

The 4.6" is "just right" from my perspective and the gun shoots fantastic, have tried a bunch of 10MM loads but my fav is the 200 grn JHP from Underwood (advertised at 1250 fps).

Now trying to figure out my "woods" carry gun & rig, either this or a G35 with .357 Sig barrel, also using Underwood ammo..... Don't have a red dot on that....yet... trying to sorto out if I have my G35 milled or find an MOS slide for it......

Decisions... decisions.... but... it's a journey :D

Sure is. I've been waiting for an M&P in 10mm since they launched the M&Ps in 2005. Took them long enough but it was worth the wait!
Like my early M&P40 so went with 4" but may have to pick up a 4.6" too.

:) forgot the left side...

I ended up with a Glock MOS Gen 5 Model 34. It's a long story but it is my first and only Glock. I put on a SRO but was searching for the dot when pulling the pistol up to fire it. Then put on a RMR and was still searching for the red dot.
I ended up with a Holosun HE509T-GR X2 . It is a Enclosed Battery/Solar Powered Green Dot Sight and it has a large circle green dot or what they call a Multi-Reticle System providing 32MOA circle with 2MOA dot, dot only, or circle only reticle options.
The larger circle has me being able to put the bullet on the target every time I pull up the weapon to fire it. Being enclosed system if it were to rain I will always be able to see the dot unlike the SRO or RMR.
My research shows it can handle the 10mm.
