I just picked up the M&P15T-5.56 Tactical Carbine Package from CDNN Sports. HBAR, 1 in 8" 5R barrel. Bottom line is that I did some shooting with a Red Dot Optics package that I shot with very well and now am looking for advice on what to look at getting that makes sense with this. The sight I used was the Vortex Optics StrikeFire 2 Red/Green Dot Sight.
There's a ton to choose from but the first consideration is making sure a 1x red dot is really the right optic for what you're doing. If the answer is yes...
If it's a range toy or you're on a tight budget, I'd suggest the new Primary Arms MicroDot for $149. If you need more mags for your new rifle take a look at the Vortex SPARC at Palmetto with 10 30rd PMAGS for $199 or alone for $129 with coupon code SPARC. If you like the larger tube StrikeFire II Palmetto has them today for $125 with coupon code Strikefire.
If you want a duty worthy optic I'd suggest an Aimpont. I prefer the Micro but if you like the larger tube the Pro is good too.
I have the Micro H1. There are newer models-- H2 and T2. Take a look at LaRue for buying an Aimpoint with one of their mounts. Superb quality mounts and when purchasing the mount/optic combo the price for the mount is substantially discounted compared to buying the mount separately.
About 5 years of constant-on battery life from a small 2032 coin battery. Torture tests beyond imagination that these units survive. A tougher more reliable 1x red dot you won't find.
I have an H1 2moa dot with LaRue LT660 tall (lower 1/3rd co-witness) QD mount.
Considerations -
Dot size- 2moa / 4moa
Mount type- QD or regular
Mount height- Absolute or Lower 1/3 co-witness

Trijicon recently came out with their own version of the Micro "MRO". Reviews have been mixed, it's not a true 1x like the Aimpoint but it's a duty worthy optic for around $400.
