Red Dot sight size

I'm asking for some help here in choosing a red dot sight. I wear bifocals and have a hard time seeing the sights and target at the same time well.
I think I've narrowed it down to either the Fastfire III or Vortex venom. I am leaning more towards the Vortex simply because the sight window is just a bit larger.
Which ever I choose will go on a 67-5 with most likely a Raptor mount plate. I'm mostly shooting holes in paper at the range, 7-25 yards.
My question is what size dot is seemingly best. Can go from 3moa up to 8moa depending on which one I choose. I realize everyone may have a preference but am looking for opinions on size and why. Thank you

I like the 3 MOA as it gives a more precise aiming point. I really like the Fastfire IIIs.

The 3MOA is great for precision while the 8MOA is great for fast sight acquisition and moving from target to target. I run the larger dots for fast shooting on pistols or on shotguns. I run the smaller dots on pistols where I need high degrees of accuracy.

Put another way, I run the larger dots when I have to hit the target anywhere, and quickly. I run the smaller dots when it matters where I hit the target.

I use a Trijicon 3.25 red dot and a Leupold DPP Triangle.
Astigmatism will make the dot and triangle distort a bit.
Both are still quite nice but for precise shooting I use a 2x or
2.5-8x Leupold on hanguns.
Small dots on Red Dots or crosshairs are preferred and I use the top tip of the triangle.

Making a mount for the RMR/scope on the M460 Carry but will be shooting lighter loads as not to cause damage due to recoil.

Vortex Venom

The Vortex Venom is an excellent reflex sight. Borderboss nailed it. I shoot bullseye with this pistol at 25 yards and the 3moa is the best choice for that.

Here is a reference I made for shooting bowling pins at 25 feet. I use an 8MOA for pins and steel plates and a 3MOA for longer range targets.

I have the Venom on a Volquartsen Ruger and I find the 3MOA great for shooting at 30' and you can dial up or down the brightness which gives you the effect of reducing or increasing the size of the dot. Anything much bigger than 3MOA will cover much of the target at distances. In the real world, I would prefer a 2MOA for most applications.

I have a 8 mill Burris Fast Fire mounted with a Raptor mount on a 629 6" .44 magnum, works great for old eyes.

On my Smith 586 I have a 3 MOA Burris Fastfire III with Raptor mount and it has worked out very well for me for 25 and 50 yard target shooting. Also have a 3 MOA Fastfire on a Springfield Range Officer 1911.

I use 3 MOA Vortex Venoms on a couple of Ruger MK II target pistols and 6 MOA Vortex on a Glock 48.

Great thread. I agree with the rest. I bought a Burris FFIII for my Volquartsen Black Mamba pistol. I may sell it and step up to a Trijicon with the really large glass area.

3MOA for precision, 4-8 for speed shooting

Thanks to all who replied, much more than I thought I would get in 24 hrs. I really like the Dots on pins from DCS-10-Speed, a very good perspective and visual example. I think I will go with a 3MOA.

I have both and have no preference other than the Vortex will stay on longer if you carry it, one of my carry pieces has it. I prefer the 3 MOA.

For paper I like the smallest dot I can get. Some speed shooting games may be different, but I want the small dots for precision shooting.

I've had the 3 MOA dot on a 617 and a Victory. The one on the Victory is a Vortex Venom and it works well for paper shooting I do from 7-25 yards. It works pretty well for me on rimfire steel plates at 30 feet too.

I have a 3 minute dot in a Burris FastFire III, and it is mounted on my bullseye gun that I use to shoot indoor 50 ft bullseye. The dot covers just about the 10 ring (on a bright enough setting to see well). On the brightest setting it may flare out into the 9 ring on the 50 ft target. Still well in the black. If you plan to use the sight in the outdoors, I recommend the larger dot or you will have difficulty seeing it. A friend of mine that is an Expert class shooter likes the dot large enough to fill the black entirely (I think 6 minute) then if he see's any black he knows he isn't centered.

Just an aside. I mentioned I use the large dot on shotguns. This is primarily for speed shooting steel. However, I've done some shooting of aerial targets with it. It's amazing how easy it is to shoot Sporting Clays/Trap with a large dot. And it kind of freaks out the other folks there, which is a side benefit.
