Reducing front weight on MP Sport

The optic, hand guard, and grip are probably adding a lot of weight.

Go with the Troy carbine length FF rail and forget about all the other bolt ons. Everything adds weight and over time, it's very noticeable. The last kaboom video I saw would have blow a little girl's hand off if she was using a magwell grip. Bad mojo. Get a rail that you like the profile of and hold it when you shoot.

I think the 9inch alpha rail with shaved down front sight gas block will be what I go with

Do yourself a favor and don't shave your FSB. If you want a low-pro block, shell out the $30. Once you cut your FSB, ain't no going back and there is no guarantee you'll easily find a replacement that lines up exactly the same.

Here is my vote....

Great rail, free floated 10.5 ounces, super duper lockup and quality fit and finish. Look up the back story on the company as well, started by a Navy Seal, who I think is still active.

There are a few things I just dont mess with on my AR's. The Gas system is one of them. Taking off the FSB has great potential to mess with your gas system and cause you problems. First they are super hard to get off. Second if the replacement does not line up properly you could have a ever so slight gas problem that would cause intermittent problems. I also do like to mess with buffer, bolt carrier, or buffer springs. Mess those up and again intermittent issues with feeding, ejecting etc. If it works dont try to fix it.

Here is a pic of my sport with that rail.

Also note if you get a free float rail most will require you to remove the D-ring (springs behind it) and hand guard cap.

The rail Centurion Arms rail I linked is a two piece free float. I had to cut off my D-ring (dremel tool) and hard guard cap. All of that stuff was probably 2-3 ounces that is now gone as well.

I have the same gun.
Leave the front sight alone, a rail height gas block from Midwest weighs more. The front sight isn't visible in your optic anyway.
Take the rail off and put on a Magpul forend. Plastic is light.
Your vertical foregrip is WAY too big. Put the Nagpul MVG foregrip on, it mounts directly to the Magpul forend. No rail needed. The shorter Magpul grip looks too small but it isn't used like a broomhandle. Just put your fingers back against the foregrip and wrap your thumb over the top of the forend. Control is restored and you have Really chopped weight by implementing this paragraph. Who can shoot well enough to need freefloat with that fine Mossberg barrel anyway. Your forend should bring you enough cash to carry you far on this step.
As posted previously, get rid of the bipod. They look good, but a Caldwell Tack driver shooting bag does a much better job of improving your shooting, reducing firearm weight and can be paid for by selling the bipod. (Check Rifle Magazine from about August for shooting comparisons) Find it under Battenfeld Technologies and the beans to fill it at the grocery store.
Can't tell if that is a 3-9X40 NCStar on there; my personal use is their 1.5-6X40. The lenses are smaller and thinner and the power is perfect, glass very clear. TruGlo are also a good low budget optic, quality excellent. You don't need more than 6X with an AR. My vision with contacts is 20/35 and I do fine with 1.5-6 X. If you need a riser use a Tapco; very forgiving and very lightweight plastic. I prefer them to metal.
Buy EVERYTHING LOCAL. Save all packaging in as new condition. An internet dealer may not trade with you until you get your gun configured as you want but a local dealer will often take back resellable items at full credit towards something else you need.
My suggestions are just that, but I have travelled your road. The one thing I have done that added a lot of rear weight is add a PRS butt from Magpul. This would have been a MOE with no battery needs or an ACS with battery storage but my screwy eyes require a different eye relief day to day. Recomended only for people with crazy eyes.
Lose your focus on freefloat or a quad rail and a different, lighter world will open up; if only I haven't preached you to sleep. Thanks to anyone that read this.
Sorry about this landing in two incorrect threads

I added the magpul MOE hand guard, grip pod, and sure fire poly tac led light. To me it's lightweigh. Make sure you pay a little more and buy the real grip pod.

That bi pod has got to be adding a good bit of weight. Also, ditch the mag well grip. IMHO, a mag well grip is useless for offhand shooting. The only time I use a mag well grip is when I am at a bench and my rifle is supported. Even then, you sure as hell don't need a special grip.

Another option (that may prove to be just another complication) is to use a quick disconnect sort of mount for that bi pod. That way, when you need the bi pod you can quickly mount it up, but then ditch it for offhand shooting.

Another thing to consider is balance. If you don't mind the weight. Your problem sounds more like a balance issue. Try adding a stock with more weight like a Magpul UBR or PRS. My friend had the same problem you do where his AR was front heavy. Until he added the PRS stock and now his center of balance is right under the trigger guard against the grip. His rifle got heavier but because its balanced so well you really don't notice the weight.

Edit: just realized this has already been mentioned. Damn smart phone wouldn't load page 2 so I didn't see it the first time.

I had the same weight issues with the bolt ons. I took everything off and went back to the old school look with the A2 front sight, good thing I didn't chopped it off. I just finished a camo paint job on the oem hand guard, butt stock and A2 grip. With the scope on it's about 7.5 lbs. I'll just leave it stock for now. $300 on a rail doesn't really appeal to me, that's a lot of ammo for that amount. I prefer function over looks...it's just me.
Enjoy and be safe.

LOL I dont even care anymore, im just gonna leave it alone and lift more weights.... when I build my next rifle, I will worry about the weight.

As stated before, the bi pod is not a factor because its only on the gun when im doing bench shooting.
