I have a Model 19-6 I would like re-blued by the factory. What can I expect to pay? Turn around time etc?

The price was on the Smith and Wesson site, I think there were a few choices. I think that if you get it done the factory is the way to go. Keep the receipt as proof that Smith and wesson did the work.

Others will tell you that it takes value away from the gun.

The price paid for the gun added with the cost of rebluing will not equal the true value of the gun.

In other words, It usually does not make economical sense to reblue.

This gun is one of my duty guns and I just want it to look good and I figured the factory would be the way to go. Thanks for the info.

You can have a dealer send it, which should cost a little less for shipping even if they charge a fee, since they can use USPS Priority Mail. Expect a turnaround time of 2-3 months depending on their backlog when they receive it. They do a nice job.

They do a great job. I have a M64 at the factory now for a Master Action job. I was on the phone with the S&W rep Friday to make payment. He said they were really backed up so you may be waiting a bit. Still worth the wait if yo can get by without the gun.

Turn around time?

I sent my 586 in for re-blue & some other work on September 27. As of this past week they still haven't gotten to my gun to write up an estimate.
They said that they are at least one month behind.

S&W Refinish

I sent two Model 27's to S&W to be refinished in September. They received the guns on September 13 and I heard from them on November 1 with the cost of the work. Did not say how long it would take for the work to be done or when I could expect them back.

Send it to Accurate Plating in Newville, Alabama. Better work, similar price and quicker.

I've used Cummins Custom Refinishing (ccr) out of Tennessee in the past. Ive got a project with them now and will post photos next month. Not inexpensive - but it's not for enhancing the value; it's for having a durable protective coating.
