I am thinking of having my Shield Dura-Kote finished. I also want to make it somewhat different than most out there. I am looking to have a low sheen finish. I was either thinking of the slide in a matte black or possibly flat dark earth.

Has anyone else refinished their Shield or other M&Ps? Time for show and tell. Let's see this pretty colors.

What's wrong with the stock finish? Mine has held up fine over the past year and it gets carried everywhere.

I'd go with Cerakote over duracoat if you must have an aftermarket finish.

melonite is a great finish as is but since I picked up a vtac im also looking to have my shield cerakoted to match it would like to see an fde shield

The melonite finish on my old XD rubbed off from my kydex holster. I was possibly thinking of a Cera-Hide finish in stainless.

The slide is stainless. Why paint it stainless? Just strip finish. I've seen some very nice looking M&Ps w/ bead blasted slides.

Go with Ionbond. The spray and bake finishes just do not hold up over time.

I suppose I will just carry it until the melonite starts to rub off. Then I will have it Cera-Kote finished in a matte black.

Here is my DuraCoated Shield. It was really easy to completely disassemble and paint. I also have an liking for the VTAC.

Melonite, like Tenifer, is not a finish, it is a surface treatment that makes the metal more dense to resist rust. The color on the metal is the finish. When your bare metal shines through, the Melonite is still protecting the metal.
