If I wanted to replace the steel cylinder on my newly acquired 360J with a titanium cylinder, would it be a drop-in replacement or would a smith have to do it? Midway has titanium cylinders for $139.
I done this on 3 of my revolvers. 1 625 and 2 627's. Use the original ejector (save or sell the one you get with the cylinder), assuming it's the same style. It will most likely "drop in" requiring only checking/setting the endshake. The Ti cylinders I've checked have been .002" longer than the SS cylinders so as an added benefit they tightened the barrel/cylinder gap.
I've measured the length of my cylinder and it's 1.53". The titanium cylinder, in either 38 (Model 337Ti) or 357 (Model 360PD), is 1.59" according to the 3rd edition Std. Catalog.
