Anybody load .45acp for one of those Ruger dual cylinder Blackhawks ? Just wondering what kind of accuracy can be had with one of those guns .

I was really surprised at the accuracy of the ACP out of that long ol cylinder. Cant really speak for jacketed bullets but all four of mine shoot cast lead just fine. My standard load is 6.5gr Unique with a 225 LRN, at 25 yards or so it shoots to same POA as the Colt loads. And just fer grins you can reload the revolver with the ACP's right out of a .45 auto mag, just thumb em out of the mag right into the cylinder. I got a few odd looks carrying a SA with a mag pouch with two ACP mags. Have fun!

Mine are accurate as is my sons. None of the 45's in the house have ever seen anything but cast reloads. I shoot the 200 gr bullets with Unique or AA2.

Not the Blackhawk, but the short-barreled New Vaquero in .45 ACP at 10 yards.

Erich, you would have to post that. Here I thought that I had just about enough revolvers and you put up a notice the the New Vaquero is available in 45 ACP. Since I happen to think that the New Vaquero is one of the prettiest single action revolvers ever made the only thing stopping me from getting one was a concern about taking on a new caliber I don't have one single case for. Now you tell me that it's available in one of my favorite calibers. There goes the fun money fund for another year.

Thanks for the replys . The gun I'm looking at is a 5 1/2" Bisley Blackhawk with the dual cylinders .

I have the 5 ½" Blackhawk (Plowhandle) and my acp is slightly more accurate than my colt. After about 100rds factory at start, all my loads are reloads - 200 SWC acp and 230gr LRN for colt. Both are really good shooters,

also have the Vaquero Birdshead in 45acp - the gun is way more accurate than me. Hard for me to accurately shoot that 3 ¾" Bbl. I have shot 230gr FMJ, Plated and RNL plus 200gr SWC. The SWC appear to be the best for that gun.

I have a Ruger Blackhawk 45 LC/ 45 ACP convertible Flattop with 4.58" barrel. The 45 ACP is very accurate out of it, similiar accuracy results as posted above with some holes touching from 10 yards or so. Your results may vary ;) as mine have at times.

I have attached some chrono data I collected for a VV N320 load out of the Blackhawk. Light recoil, pretty accurate.
