Remington 1187 on sale for $249

I bought an 1187 12 gauge just a couple of months ago for $394 with checkered walnut stock and it was used at a gun store but in brand new condition. It shoots great and seems to have excellent quality and I like everything about it except for the finish on the stock. I guess the factory didn't want it to be shiny like the old guns and scare away game so it was made very dull and looked like it was stained but had no sealer on it. It bugged me so I put 2 coats of Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil on and it now has a beautiful looking wood and I'm really happy with it.

Glad I saw this. I've been wanting to pick up a compact, semi auto 20 gauge for my wife. Can't beat this deal! Just got home with it. If you see stock listed, go to the store and take the upc and sku with you. They couldn't find it under the model name, but found it when they searched the UPC.
So I decided to take a hour trip south to the Springs, tried the Walmart that says online that they have 1 of each. took a piece of paper with the upc and sku on it for both ( I have dealt with Walmart people before), and 2 sales people and 2 assistant managers later I was told that the inventory is off and the 2nd asst. mgr. told me that they have had 3 others come by looking for these shotguns, and they were sold, but could not be purged from their inventory for some reason. They actually still show in stock at the store.
No go though.
They gave me a $20 gift card for my time.
The store manager was not available at the time, but I am waiting on a phonecall. I don't really know what I expect them to do about it though.
Looks like I am not supposed to have a 11-87 for some reason.

The store a hour north of me shows one of each in stock also.... I think that I am done though.

I have to pass along a great big THANK YOU to the original poster. There were none anywhere near me, so I shared the info with 4 friends in other states. 3 of them said they had no need for another shotgun. The 4th guy went this afternoon and was more than pleased to walk out with an 1187. He said he had to convince the 3rd guy to go look in the back. All 3 were floored when it scanned at the screaming deal price. Timing could not have been better since we (a group of friends) have all just started to get grandsons involved in trap shooting and the guy that bought this one only owned 1 shotgun before today.

Thanks again for sharing!!!

Oh ya I almost forgot to mention. I did a search on the site for "Ruger" and they showed a blue mini 14 ranch for $399. I was ready to do some traveling if I found one anywhere close. No winners here but you guys might want to check your neck of the woods.

The manager assured me that if they showed one in stock, they had one in stock... might not be true for the latest video game, but they keep a tight reign on the firearms.

They must be getting to the end of them... A couple of stores were showing $124, but no more in stock.

None in Bensalem PA

Wal-Mart doesn't sell guns in NJ. Closest one to me that had guns on the website was Bensalem PA 50 miles away. The 1187 was $474. Tho the website said there were 870s there they didn't have a the model on display. The clerk insisted they keep NO guns in back. The only manager that can conduct gun sales wasn't in.

Shot a 100 rd sporting course with the 11-87 20. 21" barrel just too short to suit me. Didn't swing through like a 28-30" gun does. The gun jammed on a FtoF and double fed a couple times. Magazine follower sticky and didn't reliably feed the 3rd shell when I tried to see if it would. Overall the action is very "gritty". I think it's the finish coating and it needs some work with steel wool and oil. Buffer tube definitely needs disassembly and polishing. With a couple hours of work, a$250 gun will be a $700 gun in function and fit.

Anyone still trying for these, insist a manager look in the back, no matter what a counter person tells you. Both the 11-87 I tried to get and the 870 I ended up with were not on the shelf but in the back at two different stores.

Upgraded the stock set on the 870 yesterday, not a bad gun for well under $200.
