Remington 552 Speedmaster!

In the 90s I bought a Remington 572 slide action .22 in a pawn shop but didn’t like it and sold it. I then got a 552 at the same place for $275. Just the other day I slid an old Mossberg scope with mount onto it. The scope was in my dad’s stuff when he died. I’ll position it correctly at the range. I love the heft of the gun, and being a lefty I like that bolt on the left side. It and my Rossi are all I want or need in .22 rifles. My only other semi auto rifle is also a Remington. A .300 Savage Model. 81.
I have two 81s in .300, one is a grade C. Not a lot of fun to shoot with full loads. I download to about .30-30 level. I form .300 cases from .308 brass, very easy to do. My 550-1 functions OK with .22 Short SV, and doesn’t make much more noise than a pellet rifle.

The Remington Speed Master is a great little rifle. I have one that came from a widow I know, very nice shape with an old Weaver scope on it that still has clear optics even if it's a bit small (3/4" tube). She thought her husband bought it new, date code is 1959 IIRC. Shoots great and cycles everything I've tried in it from Standard Velocity Shorts on up!
