Remington Rolling Block

Recentally acquired a 7x57 rolling block. What is the best bullet weight weight to use in this rifle? I was these older rifles were designed for heavier bullets. I want to load lighter loads for just plinking

175 gr standard back then. Probably round nose. Maybe go with the starter load data. Corrosive primers were the norm back then, give the bore a really good scrubbing and inspection.

Many of those rifles exhibit headspace issues so beware.

Traditionally, Federal has the thinnest brass in 7x57.

I have shot the PPU's 139gr ammo: Hodgdons shows a IMR4895 START load for a 140gr at under 2500 fps.
