Removing a Pin

I recently obtained a .500 wide target Hammer assembly that I wanted to use on my Model 10... The problem is that the Double action sear, ( I believe that is the correct name), that is spring activated and pinned to the hammer is just a tad too long, and does not leave enough of a gap for the tail of the Trigger to fit into.... So, I need to stone the sear a little bit... I want to remove it from the Hammer to do so, but I need to know which way to tap the pin out... Do I tap it out from the right side, going to the left, or vice versa... ???? also, is that pin tapered so that it will only go in or properly in one direction ??? any advice will be greatly appreciated.... With the hammer as it would sit in the gun, the pin is driven out left to right. Re-install in reverse, right to left.
It is not tapered, however, I like to maintain which way it came out, so I can install it back the same way. But in all reality, that probably makes no difference.

This will qualify as a non-response response because I choose to know (next to) nothing about model number revolvers. All the pins in all the S&W revolvers to which I've been exposed over the past 50-60 years (all those deemed to be target guns from the late 1870's to the mid 1950's) have straight pins-----and I've removed/replaced all of them in the course of giving new arrivals a proper bath. (Yes, I'm one of those.)

Stoning takes forever. There is no reason to remove the sear, get a small "Barrett" file, remove the hammer from the gun and file the sear in-place.

Roy Jinks told me years ago that S&W has no tapered pins in any S&W, all straight pins.

guess I'm lucky, while I was stoning mine the pin fell out all by its self.

You can also simply replace the sear with the sear from the original hammer since you're removing it anyway.
