Has anyone removed the gold bling-bling from their thunder ranch model 21? I was wondering what's underneath... I mean I know there's an N frame under there but I was wondering is it blued or bare.

I don't know what is under the gold thingy. A friend of mine just uses a black marker to darken it. He loves the gun (as do I) but NOT the gold junk.

As silly as it may sound, I chose not to purchase one of these due to the big ugly logo.

If there was a way to easily remove it and still have a decent looking revolver I might go looking for one.

I was wondering why a tactical school would even want that on a gun?? It seems like Gunsite is just as guilty pimping their tacticool on everything they can including a Yamaha ATV. Been to Gunsite 2 times years back before anyone knew what it was and am disapointed in all the latest commercial product endorsements.

Because it gives them money, free advertisement, and name recognition. It's win/win for the business.

I cannot help you with your question but I have found out that like hanging you can get used to anything. When I bought my TR 21-4 I did not know if it would make regular production without the bling and not wanting to miss out on an otherwise great handgun I snapped up the TR model. Man I hated the gold billboard on the sideplate and it was a irratation for awhile then I sorta forgot about it and dont really notice it anymore. Give it a try and see if you get used to it.

Back when they first came out there were a few for sale at local gunshows. I may be an old fuddy duddy but it just didn't look right. Then came the 44 special madness. Now I have three of them all S&W's. now that's all right by me. Frank

I heard they are putting them out in pastels now for the gun toting metro-sexuals. Just sayin'.....:)

A later non TR model 21-4 with no gold. Great guns BTW.

I know it sounds silly, but the front sight on that revolver just does not look "right" due to the fact that the round blade is not the same length at its base as the sight base is long.

The front sight on the other TR Classic (.45 ACP) looks right AND it has no gold, just the TR logo on the grips. Thus, getting rid of the logo is as easy as switching out the grips.

Don't forget to remove the unsightly plug from the oil application port on the left side just above the thumbpiece. This allows introduction of that occasional drop of oil into the mechanism.
