This revolver came to me without the crane and crane (front sideplate) screw. I believe this would have had the pointed crane screw. Looking for these parts, are there other models besides the 60-3 that would have used this same crane? My plan was to have it glass beaded locally, so if it's brushed stainless (non-Ladysmith), that would be ok.

Thank you for any suggestions/information!

Check the listings on Ebay under "smith and wesson model 60" etc. There are several cylinder and yoke assemblies available there now that you might be able to use the yoke from....or use in your 60-3. Be sure to check the yoke stem carefully in the photos if you need the new style yoke designed for the spring loaded plunger w/ the larger yoke screw.

I did see the cylinders listed on eBay, but not quite sure what type of yoke I need for my 60-3. The front sideplate/yolk screw is larger than the middle screw. Could you explain more about the "new style yoke designed for the spring loaded plunger w/larger yoke screw"? Perhaps that's what I have.

Thanks very much for your comments!

Sure....... the new syle yoke and spring loaded screw are on the left in the photo. Look for the yoke with this "V" , or angled profile at the end of the yoke stem. This angled profile on the yoke button interfaces with the spring loaded plunger in the yoke screw. From your description of the "larger" yoke screw in your gun, this is what you need.

(previous, older yoke stem and button on the right for comparison)

Keep in mind that any compatible yoke you buy may need minor fitting to your gun. The yoke is not considered a "drop in" part.

I appreciate your comments! I definitely do have the larger, spring loaded yoke screw.

I had forgotten that the pointed tip was spring loaded. This revolver came to me without yoke or yoke screw.

I understand any yoke will likely require fitting, I do need to know which other models would fit a 60-3. Would I be better served to call Smith & Wesson or Numrichs to buy the parts to make sure I at least get the yoke meant for this gun? My concern is I may buy a part off of eBay, say for a 642 that looks right, but has some minor difference that I become aware of only after I own it.

If you are unsure or uneasy about ordering and installing/fitting used parts, simply contact S&W Customer Service and explain the issue. They will send you a return label for the gun, and after examining it will provide an estimate of the costs involved to repair your model 60.

Be sure to have the serial number of the gun ready when you call. 1-800-331-0852

Smith & Wesson has always been fair with prices on major hard parts and fitting in the past. I'd send it out and see what they say.
