Greetings All! I posted this in the general S&W Semi-auto Pistol page then realized this page was here and decided perhaps this was a better place to ask.

I have a 5906 and a 4506. I have obtained replacement slides and barrels for both. My question is will the replacements require any gunsmith fitting prior to use? Based on the fact both came as part of a pistol that had been scavenged for parts and then sold on eBay I'm guessing the barrels are fitted to their respective slides/bushings, but I cannot guarantee that. Thanks in advance!

See my response to your previous post. I described/defined tolerance stacking in that response.

My Model 639 Franken-Smith has three "uppers" I use on it for different "assignments" and the change is as easy as field stripping. The top slide in the picture is slated for a red dot sight.

You might run into difficulty with changing barrels between slides, but if a complete upper is kept together, you'll likely be OK.

Awesome, thanks! If you would be so kind keep me posted on how your red MRO installation goes. Thinking of doing the same, eventually.
