Republicans retake NY Senate

looks like they could be tied up for a good while

the new republican in control did mention that they might not quit on the
22nd, as the democrats had originally planned......he said: "we have
the work of the people to do, and if that means not taking vacation,
so be it" (i have paraphrased here)

so who know how this will all shake out

one thing for sure: that house seat that was vacated when the president
nominated john mchugh for secretary of the army, which might have been
chased by ny state senators, might have those senators decide to stay in the senate,
where their votes might be more powerful than try to run for the house of representatives

never a dull moment!

Now, not being a New York voter, I don't have a dog in the fight. That being said, I don't think it's going to make a d*mn bit of difference. The republican party isn't that much different from the democratic party, especially in New York and New Jersey (here I am from and still own property).

Being from NY, I'll have to agree with rcnixon. However, I hope the libs are kept at bay for at least until the 2010 elections. If the Republicans gain seats on their own, fine, if the dems make gains, the gig is up.

dems went to the courts to see if they could regain control today (thursday 11 june)

judge ruled against them, so the republicans are in control

they had their own keys to the chamber (dems had locked them out)
and the opened the doors and started a new session

one of the two demos that switched, voted present and then left the chambers
so no work could be done (interesting)

couldnt have done any anyway, since the dems locked the bills and all
the necessary paperwork and kept the keys

stay tuned....you know it's going to get stranger!

i guess it is true when they say every family has some dysfunction

and i guess it could be extended to your local governments too (and federal?)
