Rescued M3000 Police 12 ga

I came across this Law Enforcement trade-in at my LGS a few weeks ago. It was fairly typical of what you might expect a police issue weapon to look like after a few years. The wood was all beat up and receiver and barrel were pretty rusty. Sandpaper, nickel plating, elbow grease, and a little DuraBlue in the aerosol can and this is what I got. Enjoy the pics.

Nice job! I have a 3000 I bought new in '83. It's a hunting model with 28" bbl and choke tubes. It's never let me down.

I've got two, both Parked with walnut wood. One long tube, one short. Both police trade ins. I've run quite a few shells through both of them with no problems. Doesn't seem to be much difference in them and my 870's.

Well done Sir, great job! Mine came to me in petty bad shape as it was left in a fleece case in the trunk of a local Sheriff's car and got a case of surface rust and finish damage to the furniture. The parkerizing held up well when cleaned and the furniture was redone and it came out well. It's been a reliable servant for many years now. Enjoy yours!

well that looks great please tell us more about this dura blue ..never seen a nice finish like this from a can...i have a very nice old winchester model 1912 from 1916 i am going to make into a nice riot model and this looks like a great finish solution...thank u for sharing it...God Bless,John...

The DuraBlue, as you might expect, is made by DuraCoat (DuraCoat(R) Firearm Finishes & Coatings | Lauer Custom Weaponry) It's sold in both aerosol and in bottles for spray gun application. It comes in high polish and matte finishes. The one I used is the high polish blue/black

The process is fairly simple as long as you follow the instructions "to the letter".

I will say that as part of my job I spray clear lacquer in an industrial paint booth, so I had access to the booth for venting and dust control. I could have bought the liquids and used the spray gun. However, since I spray clears I didn't want to risk contamination.

But, I have used DuraBlue in the past in my garage with great results also...it just smells.
