This gun was long forgotten and neglected in a humid storage as yo will see in the pictures.

I saw this gun like twice in my life as a little kid and always said that it reminded my of like an “Italian mafia gun” because of the pearl like grips.

Fast forward wanted to do the process since where I live we need to get a permit pay for a legal verification and pass a safety gun class.

After I did that, I asked my grandpa if I could buy or have his gun since I know it’s been in the storage for years and years and he would not use it and it was not functional apparently.

He said I could have it and was happy he said yes even if the gun did not deserve the chance. But I also did it because my dad tried like 10 years ago to do the process but at that time law was different and he was not able to do the paperwork for the title transfer and he was sad about that since that gun has been since new with our old man.

We almost could not do it because we were not finding the guns and my old man’s paperwork of it and he thought he had trashed them inside a bag he had thrown away.

Fortunately my grandma when she saw us after like 2 hours searching asked us what we where looking for and when we told her, she said: “ Ohh yeah yeah, that’s in a folder envelope I have in the tv room stored folders, do you need it!?” Our faces where of relief and at the same time mad we did not ask her first and not wasted that time searching 😅

Any how, got all the old yellowed papers from the 80’s and was able to revive the gun and registered with title on my name. As my grandpa and me exited the police department I told him we were going straight to a gunsmith to get it restored.

Since it was to rusty on the slide he recommended a textured paint for it to cover more of the imperfections. Since I wanted black and they did not have it in textured pain; I asked for a darker color or gray they had and one of the two I liked more and went with all the small details in black.

Was looking for a tactical dark gun aesthetic inspired that it was used by Navy Seals at some point in late 60’s-70-71 but with a little bit of modern take with the Pachmayr all around grips.

Very happy with how it came out and very in love with this Gun model style 🔥💪🏽

Hope maybe inspire a few all though I was obliged to do a restoration and since it was so messed up it will not be back to original and wanted to take the opportunity to give it my personal touch of style.

At the end there’s a picture of a gun posted in this site with a compensator, I would love to find that compensator if anyone has any clue on we’re to get it, since I been looking all around and don’t seem to find it. Thinking maybe I should go for kind of “Hush Puppy” Navy style extended threaded barrel and put on a regular looking compensator 🤷🏽‍♂️ but it’s my second option all though I could get a silencer for it.

Have fun; hope you guys enjoyed this dispatch regarding this guns story & revival!

Greetings from the Carribbean Fiscal Paradise of the USA 🇺🇸🇵🇷🫡

Really well done! I love to see a beat up old warrior brought back to life. My 1920 commercial Colt 1911 came to me as a bag of parts! I had to replace the slide, recoil and firing pin spring, and now it shoots better than I do!

Given the poor condition of that Model 39-2, I think it turned out great. The matte finish really helps to hide any pitting in steel and I think the rubber grips compliment the appearance of the matte black finish. Sort of gives it an appearance of what the Model 39 might have looked like if the U.S. Army had accepted it as a replacement for the M1911-A1.

Well, no offense, but the Navy and the Air Force bought hundreds of Model 39s and they used the stock wooden grips.

Nice work restoring it! Now, what about that last pic with comped 39-2?
Need help finding that compensator!!!

Gun looks great with it too even tho it’s not black.

That gun is posted in the forum but it was wayy back and appearently that person is not active anymore.

So any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

I’ve seen the ones for 1911 in black with the skull of the Punisher 🔥💀

Have you posted in the forum any pictures?

Would love to see it 🔫 and if before and after pictures, good too

Nice job, but please put some original wood grips on it and lose the Pachmayr's.
Nawwwwww...those Pachmyers are perfect on that gun. They are very "period." Back in it's day, the first thing a lot of people (me included) would do is lose the wood grips and put on a set of packs. The wood grips and box and papers got tossed in the trash at the gun shop a lot of times. Every gun shop had a box of take off grips with a sign that said "Free (or almost free) to a good home."

We thought those things would be around forever. Little did we know.

Beauty. If you get tired of seeing it stock you can always have a good custom Smith turn it into an ASP clone. That's my Grail, BTW, if anyone reading this knows where I might find one.

Same here.

Who thought of saving the box in 1975?
