I need to send my 15-22 back to S & W for a broken ejector (part attached to barrel). It had the new blue springs and then I put in an aftermarket spring set. Has anyone returned a 15-22 to S & W for repair with aftermarket springs installed or should I put the stock springs back in?

Where did you find an aftermarket spring set? I've never seen that before?

It's best to return everything back to stock, that way S&W can't say that any damage/breakage was due to the aftermarket parts. Also if for some reason S&W had to replace your rifle or fedex damaged/lost it, you would have all your aftermarket parts.

The only part I left on mine was my Hogue grip.

My experience: If they have any questions about the springs they will replace them and return to ones they took out to you. This is a liability concern for them and they will not negotiate on it. You might mention in your note that you'd like your springs back.

I would return the rifle as STOCK. They will test fire the rifle and "update to latest specifications" which may include new springs. It's wishful thinking they'll return any aftermarket springs if they remove them; you might not get them back and they take all of 5 minutes to fit.

Thanks

Thanks to all for your input. I have removed the JP spring set and reinstalled the "blue" spring set.
