I bought this fine red Masterpiece box in January of this year hoping for a box filler. At Kansas City this year I found a K22/40 with serial number 693027 and my boxes serial number was 693029, I thought this was as close as I would ever come to the serial number on the box. A couple weeks after I got back from KC, with the help of Mr. David Wilson, I found THE gun (693029) in Wyoming. After several weeks of emails with the fine gentleman in Wyoming, we made a trade, and here is the package. What a feeling to purchase a 73 year old box and then find the gun that left the factory in it.

During the transaction for the K22/40 (693029) I was offered another K22/40 (696952 the highest serial #) the last one ever made. Here is a picture of the pair. Before I went to Kansas City I had never seen a K22/40 in person, now I have 2. With only 1067 K-22 Masterpiece 2nd model ever made I feel very fortunate.

OK I give up. What's the difference between a K22 Masterpiece and a K22-40? I am unfamiliar with that designation. Nice revolvers in any case!

The K22/40 is the Pre-war K22 Masterpiece 2nd model, these 1067 were only made in 1940. After the war in 1946/47 the K22 Masterpiece 3rd model production started and in 1957 was given a model number being the model 17.

Lee,

I will polish it up and send it on its way to you. I hope it is as good to you as it has been to me... If it wasn't for you in Kansas City, this reunion would have never happened. Thank you!

Regards

Please don't forget what I said about that horseshoe. ;)

Nice, nice, nice! :D

Those are beautiful Mitch.Congrats on the pair again.
You have quite a "Collection" of fine K-22's. Keep me
in mind, your old friend from up north when you are
ready to move on to N-Frames. :D:D:D:D:D:D

Here is a picture of the Micrometer sight. You can see the large sight adjustment screws on the top and side of the rear sight.

Congrats on the find. I like these reunion stories. One day someone will pioneer a box collection number list. I've been seeking the original boxes on a few early chief specials, closest i ever came was 2 numbers away. Excellent work !

Mitch:

Congrats on the reunion!!! :D The question for me however, is... Where did you find the brochure??? I have been on the hunt for one of those for several years and have seen very few of them and those that I have seen are surprisingly - not for sale.:(

Thanks for sharing,

Richard,

The brochure came from a forum member that was kind enough to offer it to me. It is the second one I have seen, the first was with Mr. David Wilson's K22/40 package.

Well you can forget about ever having to play the $$ lottery again.......you just won big time. Amazing that you could find the box then match up its inhabitant.
