I bought this fine red Masterpiece box in January of this year hoping for a box filler. At Kansas City this year I found a K22/40 with serial number 693027 and my boxes serial number was 693029, I thought this was as close as I would ever come to the serial number on the box. A couple weeks after I got back from KC, with the help of Mr. David Wilson, I found THE gun (693029) in Wyoming. After several weeks of emails with the fine gentleman in Wyoming, we made a trade, and here is the package. What a feeling to purchase a 73 year old box and then find the gun that left the factory in it.
During the transaction for the K22/40 (693029) I was offered another K22/40 (696952 the highest serial #) the last one ever made. Here is a picture of the pair. Before I went to Kansas City I had never seen a K22/40 in person, now I have 2. With only 1067 K-22 Masterpiece 2nd model ever made I feel very fortunate.
