A pretty simple fix, but one that took a moment to figure out.
I took a trade in from a customer, a Model 19-3 in very nice condition, but he had somebody make his SA trigger pull set to one pound and a couple of ounces. The hammer would fall from the slightest touch. To make things worse, the cylinder turned when the gun was held in a certain way, but not other times.

My immediate thought was a bent rod, or a worn extractor ratchet face, but both checked out fine.

Turns out that the person that set up his super hair light trigger must have let the trigger and the arm come apart, and then put the gun back together without the arm under tension from the spring wire. The arm would engage and move the cylinder only when it happen to fall into the slot.

I was able to fix the gun (and add it to my collection) without having to buy any parts, and that's always a great thing!

Posting this here so it will show up in Google searches when people are looking for the answer to the same question as the post title.

I love that this forum comes up in Google searches so readily.

That "arm" is called the "hand". Good fix. Now you have a really nice gun.

Yeah.. I know that..Been a long day I guess.

And I agree, no better full-size gun in my opinion than a Model 19. I shoot them better than any .44 and they trigger better than the 686.

Here's a pic, the short one is the one from my post.
