I like em. I have a 586 6" and 629 6 1/2" with full lug and am looking hard for a 17-6. Here's my S&W collection starter kit. 629, 29-3, 29-3 nickel, 586-1, 64-5, pre 36.

I think my 686 6" would balance better without it. But it's highly welcome on my 629 5" (extra weight).
