Revolvers, I get it now

those smiths carry a lot of the time they spent in the hands of the people who built them. hours of polishing until they had the finish perfect. you can feel that when you handle one. the feel of a plastic frame someone pried out of an injection mold? not so much. I carry a plastic semi-auto but when i put it next to my 1943 colt 1911A1, 4" 686, or even Hi-Standard Double Nine , it's just a gun...

Congrats on your 686. It's one of THE greatest of all the S&W revolvers. I have a 4" and a 3". The 3" is my constant companion from the time I put my pants on in the morning til bed time. It's a fantastic all-around revolver.

I've been a revolver fan for years. I much prefer them to autos and have been shooting USPSA with revolvers for as long as I can remember. I think the 686 is one of the best revolvers Smith has made but I'm now partial to my .22 cal. 617.

I shoot Steel Challenge with it. Having 10 shots is a real blessing.

i carried a 686 on my job for 14-15 years. most excellent gun. i could have bought it when we turned those i and went to glocks, but like an idiot i didn't. and much regret it.

I have a stock 4" 617-6 and LOVE IT. 10 rds of .22 LR in a fantastic package.

I bought the Model 28 to try revolvers. I look at 357 and 38 S&W's every day. It is only a matter of time.

If you get into reloading ammo, you will really appreciate the revolver. No chasing brass and always losing a few, just open the cylinder, dump the empties into your hand or directly into a box or bag.

Not sure if this has been stated but another revelation to be had with the original cap and ball revolver.
Something just magical about those six shooters.
Reminds me when I was 10 playing cowboys and indians. (I hope you young guys can relate)
Revolvers and 1911's began my true appreciation for history I never got in school.
