Revolvers S&W "Should" have made??

What S&W should have made ... should make right now ...

618 ... You know!!! What could be better than the very best .22 LR revolver ever made but produced in stainless steel ... with interchangeable front sights as w/ the .44 Magnum Classic revolvers.

686 ... with interchangeable barrels that could be installed by the owner using a button/screw lock. Just imagine being able to take a L-frame and trick it out in .357 Magnum w/ whatever length barrel suited your needs ... then taking the same frame and using it w/ a change of cylinder and barrel(s) to shoot .44 Magnum!

952 ... Again ... you know! Chamber up that beauty in 9mm w/ a match chamber and hammer forged barrel, etc. Mill or D/T the top of the slide to accommodate optics as well as the normal iron sights. Use a steel frame and use a SA trigger w/ a short reset. That would be just the thing for punching paper ... or ... whatever.

Last but not least ...

I know, I know, it's already been said but I'll say it again ...
K-frame ... blued or stainless ... 3 - 4 inch barrel ...
chambered in .327 Magnum!!! Yea Boy!!!

Model 35 6" J-frame Target with an extra .22 Magnum cylinder

Model 69 in .41 Magnum

An L-frame .41 Special

Model 53/19 in .327 Federal

Model 60-10 .357 Magnum and .327 Magnum with a 5" barrel

Snubbies in .38 Super...a MUCH better round for the little guns than the .38 Special or 9mm and not as much blast as a .357 Magnum...

Model 58 in .44 Magnum and .45 Colt

Model 58 in stainless (658) in 3" and 4" with a round butt in .41, .44 and .45 Colt

I vote for you to be head of product mngtmt for S&W. Of course when they had sold the 200 of each and went bankrupt. They would probably fire you and take away my vote..........

I've suggested this before; a .22lr N Frame with 15 shot cylinder. If they can already get 8 x .22 in a J Frame and 10 x .22 in a K Frame, surely you could get 15 into an N Frame. It would also get around some States and Countries with 10 round mag limits.

Could be all stainless steel or something along the lines of the M&P R8 and 327 TRR8.

I just found this thread, but have always thought about an alloy framed kit gun in 32 S&W Long - maybe even in H&R Mag. Have to be blued with walnut, no silver alloy or rubber grips. Basically a centerfire model 43 with a 4" bbl, would prefer a RB, but since I'm dreaming I'd take SB too! Thanks, Bill in MA

How about a 627 in Long Tom config? They made everything else in 8 3/8”…[sigh]

1. A snub nose .45 that doesn't need moon clips. Like my Pitbull.

2. A Bodyguard MAX, like the LCP Max, no larger than my current Bodyguard, and with a manual safety. And make the safety a bit easier to disengage while they're at it.

No hope for #1, but they might make #2 considering the reception the Ruger received.

5) Stainless Model 28
6) Eight shot, fixed sight .357
7) 627 with brushed finish, eight round cylinder, and classic tapered barrel (basically a 627 Mountain Gun).
8) More 3.5 inch tapered barrel N frames
9) More three inch stainless J frames in .38 Special
10) Mid Size 401 Power Mag (the industry missed the boat on that cartridge)
11) K/L frame .327 with a half lug barrel
12) Six inch 620 or 686 Mountain Gun

Lastly, they should have never thrown in the towel on the D frame sized Model 73, C frame revolver.

10mm six shot L frame (if mechanically possible).
.30 Carbine N frame back in the cheap milsurp ammo days (not now).

I don't know if they made one but how about an N frame in .30 Carbine. and then make it in 5.7 Johnson (.22 spitfire). If they did that, I could then match them up with my two carbines.

How about a K frame with an internal hammer. Along the lines of a J Frame Model 640. A blued version would be fine too. Wouldn't have to have the darn lock in it either just like the modern hammerless J frames of late don't have them. Finally a way to sell new guns to the guys that don't like the internal locks. Maybe this makes too much sense to do it.

I always wondered why they didn't make a 5 shot K frame .44 special.

I'm guessing that they figured the five shot L frame was as small as they could go? Not much steel in that one either.
