I was chronying six different rounds of 22lr in my new S&W 617-6 with a 4" barrel. I tested CCI Velocitor, CCI SGB, Federal Hunter Match, Eley High velocity hollowpoint, Eley Subsonic Hollow Point (SSHP), and Eley Club. Five of the rounds gave results that I thought were fairly typical so there were no surprises there, but the Eley Subsonic just knocked it out of the park:
Average velocity = 942 fps
Standard deviation (SD) = 4
Extreme spread (ES) = 14
I've never seen numbers this good before in a 22lr and I don't think it was a fluke with the Competition Electronics chrony because other rounds above were tested both before and after this round.
In case you are wondering I tested the older green box 40 grain variety of Eley SSHP.
