Any road cyclist have any ideas for the best cc rig while riding? I would be carrying a LCP wearing the standard cycle kit (spandex) I haven't seen many options available for this. Also I am in Virgina where it's very hot and humid in the summer and I sweat excessively.

Thanks

I have a 'Pistol Wear' which is a neoprine-backed waist belt. Puts my J frame right above my belly button, which can be reached fairly quickly.

Linkee :)

When I was on the job I was required to work out on duty.

The best method I found is to use a quality fanny pack, I used a Galco, and I carried a Colt Commander or a Glock 17, depending on the handgun carry rules at the time with an extra magazine. It was comfortable to carry even when running 3 to 5 miles.

I jogged through a semi bad part of town. Having the handgun did prove necessary one time when a Rodesian Ridgeback Guard got out of the area it was guarding and attacked me.

I had to kill it.

I did not get bit.

I used to keep my Baby Browning .25 auto in my seat bag, and later a Seecamp .32. I think you could do the same thing with an LCP. If you're attacked by a dog, you always keep the bike between you and the dog anyway, so I didn't see having the gun stored there as a big drawback. (I didn't plan to shoot anyone's dog anyway.) I rarely got off the bike during a ride, so I was not concerned about someone stealing the bike and thus getting my gun, or needing to take the gun inside with me somewhere.

There are also frame tube bags that you could use to store a small pistol. Most fit between the top tube and the seat tube, and are roughly triangular in shape. You might consider one of those.

A really lightweight gun like a P3AT could be carried in your jersey pocket, but I never wanted to bother with that. There is the sweat issue, and if you fall, you may lose the gun, or get it badly dinged up. I always thought it was better to have the gun in my seat bag. I have a compact bag sold by Specialized dealers that is pretty quick to get into (at least quicker than others I have seen), so that was always good enough for me.

Another vote for pistol wear here.

One thing to think about, if attacked while on a bike is the bike going to stay with you? Keeping it on the bike may not be the best idea. (I probably would not have a choice if suddenly attacked since my shoes clip into my peddles. The bike would go where I go)

I think there is a federal law prohibiting the wearing of spandex while carrying a gun. Or at least the wearing of spandex.

After you ride 120 miles in a day with tactical shorts on, firmly drilled up your backside you will learn to appreciate the comfort of spandex. As a bonus...the very fit women who ride also are wearing spandex.

Wurd...

I do Mountain Bike Ultra Endurance events, and the thought of riding in anything but QUALITY bike shorts (lycra/spandex) is terrifying...
