Sorry about not knowing the terms but I am talking about the metal being rough inside the frame where the cylinder fits into. At the front of this by the forcing cone and down to the bottom of the open area appears fairly rough on my newly acquired 617 no dash.

And the lead that builds up is a royal pain in the tale to get out due to the metal roughness.

So, the question is...do folks (or yes, gunsmiths) smooth or polish this area to reduce the buildup and for easier lead removal that does buildup?

If so, how would you do it?

Pics would help. We could make a better call on what the problem is.

Typically the .22 revolvers are filthy beasts. Not uncommon for them the "gunk up."

I use a brass scraper and brass brush to keep my relatively clean. I'd just as soon not decrease the value of my 617 no dash by altering the gun.
