I have a chance to trade into one. I noticed that Mecgar has 17 & 20 rd mags for them. Some folks even have good luck with the Promag 32rd mags. Niche would be expendable/beater spare 9mm. I have a 2nd & a 3rd generation S&W in that caliber already. But I have an abundance of 147 gr Gold Dot so eh... I looked at P95s some years ago. Sigmas were dirt cheap at the time though - thus I bought a 40VE instead. (Another expendable gun.) Anyway... Is it worth revisiting the P95 and tucking one away with an assortment of mags?

If you do get it, the first thing you need to do is toss the Pro-Mags out about 20 yards and have at them... And then get some Mec/Gars!

Pro-Mags = No Mags. Might as well have a single shot, at best. Not much better than "USA" brand "Carp". No, I'm not talking about the fish.

The best are Meg-Gar or factory, same mags under a different brand name. It all boils down to which LGS has either at a better price point.

I've had one for 25 years, best shooting and reliable gun that I own.

I've got one, for what they cost you can't go wrong. Simple, basic, and they work, the more you shoot it the better it shoots. As for mags why not buy ruger brand for a few bucks more, you know they'll work.

have had one for @a year.
have had no problems and enjoy shooting it.
about 1200 rds thru it.

Works for me. I haven't had one zombie attack since I put this pc9/p95 kit together. :D

P95 was $300 otd used at a local gunshow and pc9 carbine was $425 at a local gun shop. Mags are interchangeable.

Thanks for the information guys. I had forgotten about the Ruger carbines. I have generally had good luck with steel Promags going back to a 2001 BHP. Figured for 20$ I could chance one for a practice mag. 17rd Mecgar mags sell for a few dollars less than factory and offer two more shots. I use them for other guns and have had good luck with all but a 1911 mag.

I had a Ruger P95dc about three years ago. It was full of white paint, and I fell into a creek with it, and the the trigger quit re-setting...so I returned it to the factory for a tune-up. It was perfect when I got it back, but I sold it. The Ruger was large and clunky. I could not grow fond of it.

"The Ruger was large and clunky."

really???

Yes it was. It did work great after I got it back from Arizona and everyone at Ruger was very wonderful to deal with. I spoke to two different receptionists, three service techs, and the front gate guard during this process. I have to admit, I liked it better than the one below.

While both of these guns wound up working well neither one showed mind boggling accuracy. I am not the greatest handgun shot around, but have a neighbor who pretty much is, and he did not fare much better. My two were strictly combat accurate.

This abused little Astra A75L 9mm was far more accurate than the two Rugers and a pleasure to shoot and carry.

I have a Ruger P94. Was built in 2004 by the S #. Was a Police carry pistol. Looks like the cop who carried it never cleaned it. Left side hand grip almost worn out. It is so big, and ugly that I have grown to like it.
Built like a Tank. It holds 15 rounds of 9mm, but hurts my hands trying to get the last few rounds in the mag. So I usaully load 12 + 1.
It will shoot any 9mm load, +P, hot hand loads no problem. Fully loaded it is the most rugged, and heavest hand gun I own. Makes a 1911 look small and sleek.
Ugly, big, and beat up looking. What's not to like!!!
Has become my car carry gun. Weight does not matter with the car toting it.
If I lose it to the cops, thief, or anything else. I don't love it and can get another one for small cash.

I've always wanted a KP90 in .45 ACP. Peter G. Kokalis gave a very good review of them back in the mid-90s in his old magazine, "Fighting Firearms".

Antonio Banderas seemed to like them a lot in "Desperado".

Pro-mags are junk.

Mec-Gar are fairly inexpensive, and are probably the magazines on the planet.
