Anyone want to offer an explanation as to why this poor Model 14 was made to suffer so?

S&W Model 14 14-4, 38 Spl, 5 3/4" Brl, Nice : Revolvers at GunBroker.com

What in the world was the perpetrator thinking? Was he trying to fit some sort of muzzle attachment or perhaps attempting to port the barrel? A separate issue is the hole in the cylinder. Why was that butchery necessary? I simply can't explain it away in my mind.

I don't know what happened to the muzzle. Maybe he was trying to attach a homemade silencer?

The hole in the cylinder looks to me like it let go from an overloaded round. That is just about what happens when they blow in the thin area over a cartridge. You can see it was torn away from the inside out. It says it doesn't affect the performance of the gun in any way!:eek::mad:
People like that should not be allowed in public, and that shouldn't even be allowed to be shown on the site. It isn't safe like it is, and he's nuts on his price.

What the butcher was doing isn't the only question. The description is almost as offensive. He claims the butchery won't hurt the function any. (expletive deleted)

Only person dumber than whoever butchered the muzzle to affix some kind of can and blew out the chamber, would be someone who'd pay $350 for the poor thing. And, it is shocking that this seller has so much positive feedback.

The guy who butchered this gun needs no further attention. But, the seller is an example of everything crappy about gun transactions.

How dumb does he think I (we) am (are)?

I'll take a chance on rescuing anything, even this piece. But, not for an absolutely ridiculous price.

!@#$%^&*() this really upsets me!

I'm sorry, but that image made my lunch want to reverse course.
That is not only sick, but blasphemy.

If anyone wants to do that to a revolver, might I suggest using something by Rossi, Taurus, or RG.

The funniest part is that in the auction title, it is described "NICE" LOL! $30 would be much more appropriate than $300.

Maybe somebody mentally ill or on a drug trip did it. I would be ashamed to sell it. Best thing would be to remove the barrel and cylinder and sell it for parts. He probably has only about $50.00 in it so he could still make money.

I guess that this seller thinks that someone would be stupid enough to buy it. Although saying that function would not be affected is misrepresentation!

One would think that anyone smart enough to be able use a PC to get to the internet and see that listing would not be dumb enough to buy it.... but then again, I have to rethink that logic, as the seller obviously isn't smart enough to not list it.

I can't remember seeing anything as atrocious as that gun being offered for sale, with that kind of a assinine description, being offered for sale.... even at the worst of gun show's I've been to.

I was working the desk at my gun club the other night. A guy comes in to shoot trap and has brings in his Taurus 38 snubbie for show and tell. He was reloading rounds and accidentally doubled the powder charge. The cylinder was blown into four pieces. He found two. The top strap blew off never to be found again. I told him that he should be very happy he had all his fingers. The grips still looked nice.
