Rule: Always have a knife!

I guess I'm a snob but I've always thought a little less of a man that didn't carry a knife.
Probably makes more sense than most reasons commonly used. Still, . . . .

Nowadays I carry only one SAK by Victorinox. Used to carry a small one, also, but I really don't care to carry more than what I need. Also used to carry a Spyderco Endura accessible to my right hand, but since I almost always have a S&W Model 12 or better accessible to the same hand, the Spyderco seemed close to superfluous.

Pretty hard to beat a Benchmade 710-big enough for about anything, very fast to open yet light enough not to weigh one down even in dress pants.

I recently stepped up to that from a Benchmade 940 I had carried for many years.

But, if I lost my 710 , I'd go back to the 940 without a second thought.

I especially appreciate Benchmade's Lifesharp deal, for $5.00 (to defray shipping I believe) they'll sharpen the knife to factory specs and, with my 940, they replaced some parts for nothing.

AT work I carry a Buck 110 and a Gerber multi tool
When going out I usually always carry my Benchmade 950 First production 56/1000. I love this knife and I use it. Top quality knife. I am a big case fan of their older models and carry one from time to time. Usually anything made in USA fits the bill with me.

Did the lock spring break? That scares me a little, but I often carry my Model 710. It's a splendid knife, very sharp right from the factory. I like the lean, sophisticated lines, too. And the G-10 (?) handle is about slip proof.

I think the Model 705 is the same, but smaller.

I always carry a Spyderco of some type at all times. If I forget it I feel naked. I also learned how to really sharpen a knife. As a result all the firemen and paramedics bring their knives to me to sharpen. I don't mind sharpening their knives. One of them may get me out of a jam one day.

Like many of you, I suspect, I'm a fan of the TV show "NCIS."
...

At any rate, their "Rule number ?" is "Always have a knife." That rule has gotten the fictional agents out of many a scrape. The fact that the show is fiction doesn't negate the rule.

John

Here are the rules: NCIS: Gibbs' Rules

You are citing Rule #9: Never go anywhere without a knife.

I sent a reply to your PM, Texas Star. Nothing was broken, the factory just, apparently, decided to replace some items (I don't have the list of what they did anymore) probably because they were worn.

I love BM's customer service.

I have been carrying this SOG spring assist with the Tanto blade and no serrations. I keep in near razor sharp with a Catco sharpening kit. Great knife!

Have carried some kind of 3" folder for as long as I can remember.

Currently it is a liner lock imported one. My knives get lost, worn out or damaged by abuse on a regular basis, so I quit buying $50 knives, seems I can't loose a cheap knife.

For sharpening, Arkansas stone, or whatever I have to use to get it to where the stone leaves a good edge.

I never leave the house without a sharp knife, and probably average using one once a day (not including mail.

Too bad it is illegal for anyone to carry a knife in Ga. with a blade over 2". I guess we are all unconvicted felons.

EDC in casual clothing, i.e., jeans, etc., is Cold Steel Voyager, small size, 3" +/- partially serrated SS blade. Thin, aggressively textured scales, disappears in jeans pocket next to SS Benchmade "tactical" ballpoint pen/Kubotan. In the field when hunting/camping, etc., I usually go with the medium size Voyager, as its longer blade is up to more serious cutting tasks. In dress clothes, I switch to a thin Mel Pardue/Benchmade auto, worn almost invisibly IWB with the clip under my belt.

I know many men who don't carry any sort of pocket knife, and can't understand how they get through a day without one. I'm never far away from a well-featured Swiss Army knife or a Leatherman tool. There are three different sized axes in the truck, a machete, and a one-man crosscut saw, and a big, heavy-duty Buck 119, just in case ... Hey, there's all kinds of stuff you might run into that needs to be sliced, diced, sawn, whacked, chopped, etc., and like the Boy Scouts say, one should "Be Prepared".

I've had a little Buck 305 for well over 30 years. Have carried it everywhere I went. Early on I was prying something with it and the tip snapped off the larger blade. I've been told Buck will replace it for free...not a chance, that thing makes a great little screwdriver now. I've used it to fix hundreds of things over the years, even used it to keep the sports car running a few times by adjusting the carb...at night...in the rain...in traffic. Way too many memories.
The other "all the time" knife is a Spyderco Delica. I like the old ones with the plastic handle as it gives the fingers holding it more purchase on the knife. Tough as a Ford truck and pretty inexpensive. I use it every day for something.
I have several others, but these are the workhorses.
Gotta have a good knife or two. All the time.:)

EDC Boker TOP-LOC ll plain edge. Cold Steel, Voyager Tanto point with plain edge. Touch up on a tungsten welding stinger and sharpen with a "LO-RAY" system. Like the Lansky but before them.

Another Kershaw Leek carrier. So nice and thin, and probably the best edge retention I've ever seen.

Benchmade 551 in my RH pocket, Leatherman Micra in my left with my keys. Depending on which tool bag I have with me, I may also have an old Anza, a BM Pika II, or an Opinel #7 or #9.

Gad! In Georgia?! That sounds like something that'd happen in Chicago! In fact, I think it has.

Even NYC gives you 4 inches.

I carry a Leatherman Wave on my gun belt right behind my 5946. An exceptionally useful device.

My everyday carry. Benchmade 3550 Auto.
