Dear Civilians,
We know that the current state of affairs in our great nation has many civilians up in arms and excited to join the military. For those of you who can't join, you can still lend a hand. Here are a few of the areas where we would like your assistance:

1. The next time you see any adults talking (or wearing a hat) during the playing of the National Anthem - kick their butt.

2. When you witness, firsthand, someone burning the American Flag in protest - kick their butt.

3. Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the highest amount of respect to all veterans. If you see anyone doing otherwise, quietly pull them aside and explain how these veterans fought for the very freedom they bask in every second. Enlighten them on the many sacrifices these veterans made to make
this Nation great. Then hold them down while a disabled veteran kicks their butt.

4. (GUYS) If you were never in the military, DO NOT pretend that you were. Wearing battle dress uniforms (BDUs) or Jungle Fatigues, telling others that you used to be 'Special Forces,
Collecting GI Joe memorabilia, might have been okay when you were seven years old Now, it will only make you look stupid and get your butt kicked.

5. Next time you come across an *Air Force* member, do not ask them, 'Do you fly a jet?' Not everyone in the Air Force is a pilot. Such ignorance deserves a butt-kicking (children are exempt).

6.If you witness someone calling the US Coast Guard 'non-military', Inform them of their mistake - and kick their butt.

7. Next time Old Glory (the US flag) prances by during a parade, get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by placing your hand over your heart. Quietly thank the military member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her - of course, failure to do either of those could earn you a severe butt-kicking.

8. Don't try to discuss politics with a military member or a veteran. We are Americans, and we all bleed the same, regardless of our party affiliation. Our Chain of Command is to include our Commander-In-Chief(CinC). The President (for those who didn't know) is our CinC Regardless of political party.. We have no
inside track on what happens inside those big important buildings where all those representatives meet All we know is that when those civilian representatives screw up the situation, they call upon the military to go straighten it out. If you keep asking us the same stupid questions repeatedly, you will get
your butt kicked.

9. 'Your mama wears combat boots' never made sense to me - stop saying It! If she did, she would most likely be a vet and therefore could kick your butt!

10. Bin Laden and the Taliban are not communists, so stop saying 'Let's go kill those Commies!' And stop asking us where he is!
Crystal balls are not standard issue in the military. That reminds me- if you see anyone calling those damn psychic phone numbers, let me know, so I can go kick their butt!

11. 'Flyboy' (*Air Force*), 'Jarhead' (*Marines),* 'Grunt' (*Army*), 'Squid' (*Navy*), 'Puddle Jumpers' (*Coast Guard*),
etc., are terms of endearment we use describing each other. Unless you are a service member or vet, you have not earned the right to use them. Using them could get your butt kicked.

12. Last, but not least, whether or not you become a member of the military, support our troops and their families.. Every Thanksgiving and religious holiday that you enjoy with family and friends, please remember that there are literally thousands of soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen far from home wishing they could be with their families.. Thank God for our military and the sacrifices they make every day. Without them, our country would get it's butt kicked..

'It's the Veteran, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.'

'It's the Veteran, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.'

'It's the Veteran, not the community organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.'

'It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.'

AND ONE MORE::

13. If you ever see anyone either standing for or singing the national anthem in Spanish - KICK THEIR BUTT.

It saddens me to observe those parade spectators who will watch our national colors go by and not lift their sorry a**es out of the lawn chair or off the curb. They afford their flag as much respect and reverance as one would a dish rag.

Jarhead- Sir

So well written thank you for the thread. Hopefully someone will learn from the wisdom you are passing on here.

Some time back I almost strated a fight at a Hockey match, my wife and son with me. Two young "chumps" wanted to talk and wear their baseball caps during the National Athemn. I politely flipped the hats off the head, gave them a "meet me outside look" and put my finger to my lips.

Even "chumps" can get the picture. Hope you the best and thank you for your service to our country

Houston, we have a problem!!!!

So well written!!! The guy in the wheel chair is probably a vet. Thanks to all those that have and are serving!!!!

My wife and I visited the USS Arizona Memorial and the National Park Service ask visitors to be quiet and reverent. Then the ranger had to ask several more times. Some people just walked around talking like they were at a ball game.

Hate to state the obvious but what else can we expect given the disgusting state of our educational system ? Our kids aren't taught any history or geography and little math and science, but get loads of liberal bs touchy feely crap that allows them to better fit in to a welfare state.

The following comments are from HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS.

"Well, why wouldn't Japan bomb Peal Harbor, after all, we did Atom Bomb them first!"

"Didn't the Civil War start because of civil rights ? Wasn't that in the 1960's?"

"Where is Vietnam?

Is South Africa in Argentina?"

"Ted Kennedy is bravely serving in Congress after being shot twice in the head during assasination attempts back in the 1960's"

"Everybody in the South used to own slaves and the North had to stop them, so in 1885 President Lincoln passed the Emancipation Act and the South started a war"

"Wasn't the Spanish American war the one where we stole California from Mexiso ?"

They aren't taught any respect for their parents, for their teachers, for their peers, certainly not for their politicians; So, why should we be surprised that they have no respect for their country?

Here's a picture I posted a couple of years ago. A good friend of my was working with the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior program in Quantico. He was the OIC for the 2007 Super Bowl program in charge of getting 50 combat injured Marines to the game. There are many pictures of the day but this one is the most powerful. This was taken during the National Anthem.

Thank you, mtb1bkr, for this thread and your service. I never served, but I have never shown disrespect for my country's symbols or our vets. I noticed after 9/11 that things got a lot quieter and more reverent during the national anthem at the events I attended. My father and grandfather both served in the world wars, and the memories of their service make me damn proud. Now, that I've said that, I don't have to be nice to John Kerry, do I?

That young man stood for the National Anthem, and he doesn't even have legs.

God Bless him!

He ... is a role model!

My wife and I visited the USS Arizona Memorial and the National Park Service ask visitors to be quiet and reverent.

Frankly I couldn't see much at the Arizona Memorial because of all the Japanese tourists loaded down with cameras snapping photos in every direction.

If you really want a disgusting experience go and visit Arlington National Cemetary.
Most visiting people behave like it is Disneyland, only the foodstands are missing.
Many many times the guards have to ask for silence and respect. I don´t get it, that some people don´t get it.

What's the rule: Are you supposed to stand up for every flag that goes by or just the first one with a color guard or honor guard or all of them with a color guard or honor guard? If you stood up for every flag, no one behind you could see anything! Especially if you stood up for the flags that are used for "decorations" instead of symbols.

That's because it is considered to be a "Tourist Site" I often visit Quantico National Cemetery to take photos of the Individual Monuments for the "FindAGrave" requests. It is a beautiful place that is very solemn, respectful, and people show every courtesy to each other when our paths cross. If I didn't already have a place to rest forever, I would certainly choose Quantico.

try living in a condo where the trustees feels that my 20 foot flag pole and flag is causeing the property value to go down.

IF YOU CAN READ THIS THANK A TEACHER....

IF YOU ARE READING IT IN ENGLISH THANK A VET!!!!

I never uncover (take off my hat) when the colors pass and never place my hand over my heart.

Once a Marine, always a Marine...I stand at attention and render present arms (hand salute); civilian threads or not.

Translation provide for those who don't know what uncover and present arms means.

LSK...Actually, a proper hand salute executed from the position of attention is the preferred method for veterans, regardless of attire, whether covered or not, in-doors or out, by law! The old civilian attire stand-by of uncovered, at attention with hand over heart continues to be acceptable for veterans as well.

As a spectator at a parade I stand at attention and offer a proper hand salute to every American flag that is carried past the spot I am standing at. I don't care if it's carried by firemen, veterans, active military or cub scouts. That piece of cloth deserves my respect and acknowledgement.

As others have posted, veterans are now afforded the privilage of giving a proper military salute to the flag we served under.
