Just wanted to put in a word for Rustys Rags. I got some in the mail the other day and used it on some of my older Smith revolvers and WOW the blueing just pops out and they really do clean like crazy anyone else tried them out yet?

Flitz polish does the same thing, it's amazing how clean an old blue can get

Thanks for the "heads up" to the Rusty Rags products fellas. I wasn't familiar with the product. Very interesting read on line.

I recently started using these also, highly impressed with them !
Definelty a quality product and works as advertised.

Will Rusty's or Flitz do anything to a bead-blasted blue to bring up the shine, or will it just remove it? My 28-2 was bead-blasted before bluing some time before I bought it, and it looks like there was some surface rust. Some teeny- tiny pitting on the frame next to where the hammer rides, but otherwise just a matte finish. I'm not looking for 27-style gloss, just a bit nicer than it has now.

A quick pic.

Ironhand, being a bead blasted finish, i'm not sure how much gloss you bring out on it. You might try a light application of Flitz, I wouldnt get to aggresive with it. Flitz should remove any surface rust, and brighten the finish a little.

Rusty's Rags are a silicon based cleaner/protecter.Applied with a wool pad. It will give the finish a "wet" look, and protect it. I would apply it after polishing lightly with Flitz..IMHO

RR's

Rusty's rags looks a bit thinner than I've seen in the past? It looks like the thick piece of sheepskin is now almost like a fuzzy deerskin from the pictures on their website??

I saw an ad for Rusty's Rags in a gun magazine this week and wondered if they work. My opinion has been two fold, nothing works as advertised and let someone else try it before I buy into it.

I am glad someone else tried them and felt compelled to write about them here.

Now I can order me a pack of them.

Yes, they work. He sent out quite a few samples for us to test out. Really makes my daily carry gun look better, and the applicator gets into the grooves and such easily, so it only takes a few seconds to wipe it down. Great idea for gifts.

My daily carry was looking pretty dull, here's an after pic:
