Rogo123, yes the S&W 10xx series pistols are very rugged pistols. Not all parts are not as availible as they once were. Aftermarket stuff is almost non-existant except for sights and grips. Magazines are getting pricey also.
As far as what is the best...that depends on what you want to do with the pistol, Woods carry or hunting the 1006, 1026 or 1046 (rare) are the 5.00" barreled models, if you want some shorter concealment you will want the 1066, 1076 or the 1086 with the 4.25" barrels.
You will be well served by any of these beautiful pistols in 10mm.
Now ammunition...quality ammo does exist and some factory stuff is toned down to near 40S&W. So some judgement will be needed to atain the flavor you want.
