S&W 1891 Third Model

An excellent original, matching third model - $1500. Excellent original barrel - $500. So we're at about $4000. Add for consecutive numbers, extra barrels numbered to guns, caliber other than .22 (I know all third models are supposed to be, but why four identical barrels?), or other unusual features. Beautiful set.

Outstanding, first matched set I have seen. Also interested in what caliber the other barrels might be. If the other side and mechanics match the side showing Red9 is in a close ballpark. In a big auction, who knows what they might bring.
red9 and H Richard raise interesting questions The answers have almost EVERYTHING to do with the value. And my first question is does any of this letter, or is it like my "combination set"---a 6" Model of '91 Target Revolver with three 6" SS barrel assemblies---.22/.32/.38----?? And if you're wondering if my set left Springfield the same way----it did not---and you ought to know better than to wonder things like that.
I recall virtually none of the speciifics, but it seems like a documented, cased pair of 3rd Models fetched some low five figure number at one auction or another not all that long ago---and therein lies the rub. There's a big difference in documented cased pairs and a couple of guns in a box.

Do they have an "Olympic " short chamber? Insert a 22 LR into the chamber, if it does not fall all the way in, on it's own, & has to be pushed in, then it is an "Olympic" chamber, and adds some to the value of each barrel. A photo of my 3rd model with case protuding before being pushed in.
