Anyone knowing me will say I love my S&W 1911 guns more than I do my truck, and that is saying a lot.

Yet I have one of the sku 170261 that I love more than I did any of my ex wives. I actually baby it. It gets carried in a custom made holster daily. At home, get wiped down from dust, moisture and such with an extremely soft baby diaper. Each Sunday, it get carefully disassembled and cleaned, lubed and polished. This gun is that good of a shooter.

My question is, since I do not shoot reloads in that gun and so far only shot 230 FMJ or 230 gr JHP ammo in it, will it take any factory .45acp ammo? I do not intend to use more powerful ammo at the range but was considering it for work use.

I am shooting about 200 rounds weekly at the range and do not want to damage the gun in any way.

My brother-n-law has shot 185gr - 230gr FMJ & JHP, and I expect some +P. He is currently casting 195 gr SWC, and says he has never had a feeding issue with anything he has fed his S&W 1911.

That sku is for a perf center pistol....

that should be able to eat up any and all factory ammo without issue.

Are you asking about +P ammo? or just regular factory ammo?

I've got one of the 1911sc models that i picked up used not long ago - have only put a handfull of JHP's through it and it's not been any problem at all. (which is good to know as i bought it as a carry)

I have the same gun and its one of my favorites too. IMHO its one of the finest 1911s available for the price and perhaps for twice the price. I shoot 180 to 230 grain (LRN, LSWC, JHP, FMJ) loads in mine. Both reloads and factory. They all feed and shoot fine. For the lightest loads I use a 12 lb recoil spring. For the heaviest loads I use the stock factory one (this works fine for all but the lightest or heaviest loads). For nuclear loads I use a 18 lb spring.

So far I have put about 4000 rounds through the gun and there are no signs of excessive wear or battering anywhere on it (locking lugs, barrel link, slide, frame etc.).

BTW I like arched MSHs on my guns as well as extended slide and magazine releases and put them on mine. Photos attached.
