Would love to hear some opinions/facts 'bout 3 S&W .22s and how they might compare to each other:

Model 46 in 7" with weight

422 and the new Victory.

I've got the 422....would love a 41 but would settle for the 46 and am wondering about the Victory

I don't shoot matches any more (eyes and "steady" aren't what they were) and I have a Sig 226 with a .22 conversion unit that works just fine.

But I'd be willing to ditch the 422 and replace it with a 46....but would like to hear some perspectives on these guys.

thanks.

The 422 is a much better gun than the Victory in my opinion. I'm sure the 46/41 would be gems to own but then who wouldn't want one. I like to shoot my guns and take them along on a hike into the woods. A 422/622/2206 would fill that bill better than any of the others, again IMHO. They are in no way slouches when it comes to accuracy either.

The 422 is a gun you shouldn't sell.

The Victory is a gun you should not purchase.

The 46 is a fine pistol that may require certain ammo needs or love to ensure that it runs as designed... but will be a sweetheart and wildly accurate if it runs, feeds and ejects well. It will be am expensive purchase.

To be completely honest, if you did NOT already own the 422, I believe going outside the S&W name here is a fine option also... many many better choices than the new Victory.

I have had a M41 since the early 80s and it is a top notch target pistol. Never owned a 422 so I have no frame of reference. My Victory .22 has been a solid gun with the exception of the loose screw issue, which was remedied with an o ring. The trigger is far better than a Ruger 22/45, the weight lends itself to a steady hold and the sights work for my aging eyes. I think that it's a good entry level target gun and field pistol. Your experience may differ.

S&W .22s: 422 vs new Victory

While I have owned several 422s over the years I could not get used to the light weight. I never had a function problem with any of them, just too light in my opinion.

I do currently have the 622, 2206 and just picked up a Victory. I only have a few rds through the Victory but have no issues so far. I enjoy shooting suppressed so all are threaded or have an adapter for the can. In my opinion the 2206 feels better than the 422 just for the weight. The Victory is heaver and a joy to shoot so far.

I've been interested in a 41 but the price has always been a bit much for me.

I had 22A and a Victory, didn't like either one. I feel 422 is a better gun, it is light and takes awhile to get use to. None of
these guns compare to 46 or 41. They weren't intended to, S&W
needed a pistol to compete price wise to Ruger and Buck Mark.
There use to be Hi-Standards, Colts, and Brownings in the class
to compete with 41. They are all gone now and the new stuff
doesn't come close to a 41. I don't like SS guns but if weight
of 422 bothers you the 622 might be the answer.

I have both a M41 and a M46, which I love dearly. I have had a 22A in the past and put around 10,000 rounds thru it before selling it to get the M46. The 41 and 46 are virtually identical to each other in shooting style and grip style as well. Both are excellent guns. The 46's are quite rare compared to the M41's and are ammo selective as well. CCI SV is the only ammo that really works the best in both of mine.
