Just got my hands on a big bore snub nose (2 3/4 in barrel) and man is it sweet!

This one isn't marked by any gunsmith but it got the full package. The barrel has obviously been chopped, the hammer semi bobbed/ re contoured, the trigger smoothed and contoured, round butt conversion, and ball detent.

It came with stags but I threw on some goodyears for the mean time.

Here is the obligatory picture I'll try to get some better ones when I can get a second. Off to the range!

Kinda looks, and sounds like a Jovino Effector. I think they did ball detents...if not you have one that's even better than a Jovino :)

Yea it very well could be a jovino or a behlert but there aren't any markings to determine it.

I could letter it and see if it shipped to a notable smith.

Fabulous! You only show the right side so I can't see if the extractor locking pin has be cut off. If a replacement lock (spring loaded pin) has been installed it may be on the barrel shroud with a detent recess in the crane or it may be installed in the crane facing forward with the recess in the barrel shroud or it may face upward with the detent in the upper frame. Some of these were shipped directly to Jovino from S&W and will be verified by a historical letter. From what I have seen the "Effector" marked guns have 3" barrels and have the extractor lock still in place. These Big bore belly guns are addictive... can't stop at just one. Enjoy.

Yes sir the lock has been cut and they have installed a detent.

Congratulations

From your photographs it looks like a Behlert or a copy of his work. It could be a custom Jovino, but it is not an Effector. The Jovino Effector has a 1/4" longer barrel so that it can retain the forward locking bolt on the ejector rod.

I have been carrying and shooting this Behlert for decades now

These days I keep mine stuffed with the new Browning BXPs. I love this ammo in 45 ACP

Just took it to the range and man does it shoot nice!

This one is definitely a keeper and I'll be calling lobo after the holiday for a holster!

I have a 25-2 2 5/8" on me right now. I got it 1.5 years ago and sent it to Bob Cogan at A P &W inc in Alabama. He put in a 45 Colt cylinder, new sights and hard chromed the finish. What a great job he did. I carry it in an iwb by Craft Holsters. Easy carry for a heavy gun. I collect big bore snubs. This is my favorite. Next is a 629 Talo. When I learn how to post a photo, I'll send one.

Here is mine, made my Claude Simmons of Laport Colo. for Dan Joseph city policeman in Ft Collins Colo. If you have an old Guns & Ammo April 1962 you can read all about it in an article by Ron Terrill.
I carried her for a few years, just got to be too bulky for me.

Nothing fancy, just an honest working girl.
